Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effects of integrating humor into math curriculum on mathematical creativity of sixth grade students in primary school. The current paper reports the results of the quantitative section of a larger study conducted through a mixed methods design. Mathematical creativity of students based on their performance was measured after the implementation of the researcher-developed package that included humor-integrated math content generated based on the concepts of sixth grade math textbook. Pre-test and post-test results showed that integration of some elements of instructional humor with math concepts can have positive effects on math creativity of the students. Suggestions are the development of humor-integrated curricula packages based on needs and requirements of the learners as well as the subject matters.

Qualitative and quantitative methods have been used. The statistical population was the qualitative part of all authorities in education and art education of whom 19 were purposefully selected as samples. The statistical population in the quantitative part consisted of MA and PhD students of Isfahan Art University whom 285people were randomly selected. The research data's were collected from semi-structured interview and realized questionnaires The results of the qualitative part that the most important innovation indicators in Teaching-learning activities consist of: Experimental approach in curriculum planning, attention to the Self- directed, According to the thinking skills., continuous and quality Evaluation, According to the Artist principles of dialogue and discovery-based learning and Application of new knowledge in the field of view and analysis of works of art. The application of innovation indicators” is less than the average. So, holding educational courses, using the experiences of the arts faculty and art experts, continuous review of curriculum based on constructivism indices, are useful factors in improving and innovating Art curricul.

Abstract

This study has compared the goals and objectives of orientation and mobility (O&M) curriculums in Iran and America. The Bereday’s comparative method was used in this research. Initially the goals were defined and interpreted based on two criteria including the level of generality and the level of coverage and then they were compared by juxtaposition. The study found that American O&M curriculum has 41 functional mobility tasks with 38 goals and 270 objectives solidly based on the students' needs in five different environments: home/living, campus, residential, commercial and public transportation. Furthermore, some of these goals were also devoted to low vision students. Iranian O&M curriculum had only developed 10 goals and 75 objectives exclusively for blind students, ingnoring their surrounding environment. American O&M curriculum with specific goals and objectives provides numerous opportunities for blind as well as low vision students to learn O&M skills through a meaningful learning environment extremely helpful in their daily lives.

Abstract

This study was conducted to remedy the shortcomings of the curriculum that the authors had developed for the course Consecutive Interpreting. The curriculum had been designed adopting a social constructivist framework and implemented for a semester to detect the imperfections. Since the main problems centered on the paucity of learners' interactions and the limitedness of the existing interactions to few learners, the face-to-face class was complemented with an online class on Moodle. The blended design was implemented for another semester to evaluate its efficiency in solving the problems. Three public forums were used for discussions. The study revealed that Forum is an efficient module in enhancing interactions. Besides, the differences between the mean participation rate of students with different gender, age and semester of entrance turned out not to be significant, indicating that such variations in the online class had not been barriers hindering learners from getting into interaction.

Abstract

: Flourishing students' artistic capacities is among the major missions of education in the Document of Fundamental Reform. The five axes of artistic education including communication with nature, aesthetics, artistic production, familiarity with cultural and artistic history and heritage, and artistic criticism, along with the content structure of culture and art textbooks including visual arts, calligraphy, traditional arts, vocal arts and performing arts are all issues that should be considered by planners in developing potential human abilities. This study involved the content analysis of the culture and art textbooks of the junior secondary system in 2015-2016. Images, texts, and activities were taken as the unit of record. The encoding method was deductive following the topical and structural aspects of culture and art education. To validate the encoding process, a second rater encoded 10 percent of the content, indicating a correlation of 0.89. The results revealed that artistic production, aesthetics, artistic criticism, familiarity with cultural and artistic history and heritage and communicating with nature are the most significant aspects of artistic education respectively. Additionally, visual arts, traditional arts, calligraphy, vocal arts, and performing arts are the main priorities. The study of the 3D model of curriculum structure showed the application of all three activity types (prescriptive, semi-prescriptive and non-prescriptive) in the textbooks, but their content needs to be reviewed regarding the coordination of activities with the educational content presented, the form of content integration, balance and diversity, and the lack of raising students’ motivation and creativity.

Abstract

This study aims at investigating the experienced curricula of the skill-based higher education system from the perspectives of students therefore, a quantitative approach and a descriptive-survey method were utilized. The statistical population of the study comprised students of comprehensive scientific-applied universities in Iran. Stratified random sampling method and Cochran's formula were applied to select 660 students as the sample. Data were collected through a researcher-made questionnaireof skill-based curriculum in higher education, and the analysis was conducted through one-group t-test, Friedman. Content validity was verified and confirmed by curriculum and structural validity experts using software (PLS). The reliability coefficient was calculated using Cronbach's alpha (0.86). The final results suggest that the situation of the experienced curriculum was relatively favorable from the students' perspective in the three dimensions of "adapting the curriculum to 'the goals of the university, the skill-based system" and "executive aspects of the new curriculum." Accordingly, the skill-based higher education system in Iran requires great attention and fundamental changes need be made in curricula and teaching methods. Thus, this study suggests that the curriculum of the University of Applied Science and Technology (UAST) be designed to teach different skills, applied in professional and social life, and taught in simulated and practical educational environments in order to achieve the desired goals of the skill-based system.

Abstract

This research is applied in terms of purpose and synthesis in terms of method. The scope of research and the main sources of data collection are numerous studies that have been conducted since the outbreak of Covid-19 virus in connection with the challenges of transition from face-to-face to virtual education in Iran and abroad. 69 samples were purposefully selected. In the next steps, information coding and classification was performed; The combination of categories and the results of the analysis led to the extraction of a conceptual framework related to the challenges of transfer from face-to-face training to virtual training and the presentation of appropriate strategies for this transfer. In general, the challenges of transition to e-learning in two dimensions, macro and micro, were extracted in four categories and 22 codes, and successful transfer strategies from face-to-face to virtual education were presented in seven categories and 17 codes.

The present study has pursued two objectives, including investigating the educational system's pathology of gifted schools and provide a curriculum improvement indicators model based on the qualitative method and synthesis research. The statistical population included 261 theoretical sources collection. 94 study had the most coordination. 443 phrases were extracted. Data analyzed by three-step inductive method and 101 themes were obtained. Findings showed that the educational system's damage include 39 basic concepts; 7 sub-themes; 3 main themes. Curriculum development include 62 basic themes; 3 sub-themes and 1 main theme. The results showed one-dimensional training; deficit design and passive teaching-learning programs are gifted school's educational problems. Also, the  enrichmental extracurricular includes: multiple and purposeful curriculum; Optimize and increase the quality of teaching-learning; Strengthening the motivation to learn; nurture dynamic students was considered as an indicator of curriculum improvement. Abstract

Multi-grade classes are used for small groups of students in which one teacher for each gread is impractical. The purpose of this study is to investigate the current situation of education and learning in multigrade classrooms from the perspective of teachers in North Khorasan province. To achieve this goal, phenomenological research method was used as a qualitative method. Participants in the interview were selected using purposive sampling method according to the distance from urban areas. Saturation was obtained in interview number ten, but continued until the eighteenth person. The findings of the interview were analyzed by Colaizzi method. Finally, the current situation in the three areas of infrastructure, education and learning was identified. The present study shows some of the strengths and weaknesses of multigrade classrooms from the perspective of teachers and shows policy makers the current situation in order to improve quality.
