Abstract

According to scientific and technological changes that are emerging in society, the necessity of using interdisciplinaries is unavoidable. Successful development and implementation of interdisciplinary curricula need evaluation and revision continuously. The main aim of this study is to evaluate the humanities interdisciplinary curricula in higher education of Iran. Now the question is: "How much the current status of the curricula in higher education of Iran is adapted with the desired status"? To answer this question, evaluative research method, based on mixed methods, has been ussed. The population of this research includes humanities interdisciplinary curricula in higher education of Iran. Methods of data collecting were determined according to research variables and four study groups. The findings indicate that all components of the curriculum (including objectives, content and topics, teaching and evaluation methods, and retraining courses) need to be reviewed and be changed fundamentally.

Abstract

Entrepreneurship education (EE) is a fast growing field; despite of this, the content and teaching strategies are vague. This paper collected the studies on goals, content, teaching and evaluation approaches of EE, and by synthesizing them, provided an appropriate compound of them. The criteria for selecting the studies were examination one or more of mentioned components among 2000-2016. Findings of each component have been discussed and by synthesizing them, the final conclusion has been approved. According to this study, EE goals in elementary level include familiarizing with basic concepts, motivation, interest and entrepreneurial spirit. The secondary level objectives are promotion of entrepreneurial skills and competencies. Content is developed based on goals, and is integrated in three first years, and then is delivered in both integration and discrete. Active teaching strategies, especially induction and intuition, are appropriate. The authentic evaluation methods and formative evaluation approches are more fit with entrepreneurship nature.

Abstract

Curriculum Based Measurement (CBM) is a supervision method of student’s educational achievement through direct assessment of predicted skills in the curriculum. Although almost half a century passes from the introduction of CBM in the world, however it has not been considered in Iranian curriculum. So, the aim of this research was to introduce and investigate the impact of CBM on math achievement of elementary students in comparison with conventional methods of formative evaluation. The present study based on the goal is applied research and in term of data collection is quasi experimental method with control group and pretest for a sample of 3rd grade elementary students. Results of Analysis of Covariance showed that CBM has significant effect on elementary students’ math achievement. Based on this research results, it is recommended that CBM is used in elementary curriculum as a more effective method of formative evaluation.

Abstract

This study conducted with aim of investigation profound experiences of elementary male students in the fourth and fifth grades from the descriptive evaluation. The method of this study was qualitative and phenomenological one. To achieve this objective and considering the nature of the study, purposeful sampling was used. Collected Data were saturated by interviewing with nine students. Data were analyzed by MAXQDA10 software. The results of these experiences were summarized at five themes and several subthemes. These themes included: "positive perception of descriptive evaluation", "negative perception of descriptive evaluation", "appropriate for bottom grades" pleasant for lazy students parents "and" harmful for lazy students". These findings can help Authorities in investigation the conditions of descriptive evaluation, its advantages and disadvantages. So they can take steps in Solving Problems and improvements, Remove or replacement of this evaluation.

Abstract

The main purpose of this paper is to explain the difficulties of existing assessment approaches and suggest an alternative approach in order to overcome these difficulties. Therefore, firstly, the existing assessment approaches have been criticized and next an intergral assessment approach was presented based on the neuro-phenomenology which was inspired by the causal layered analysis, Ken Wilber's theory of integral and fuzzy logic. The most important features of this approach to assessment are holographic attitudes towards human life, reciprocal relationships between mind, brain, body and environment and a synchronous consideration of first-person experiential and third-person experimental approaches to cognition.

Abstract

The present study aimed at identifying the challenges of “descriptive evaluation” program launched by the Ministry of Education in Iran in 2004, nationwide. The research was designed through employing qualitative approach and phenomenography to better understand the challenges which elementary teachers had with evaluation of “mathematics” as one of the subject matters. The participants of the study were 24 elementary teachers who voluntarily participated in this study.  The data were collected through semi- structured interviews, a focus group and researchers’ field notes and their interactive discussions about interviews and focus group. Four main categories of challenges were identified: “policy- making”, “executive- education”, “conceptual” and “social- cultural”. It is concluded that a clearer picture of challenges that elementary teachers encounter with this program while teaching mathematics needs to be presented. It is necessary for policy- makers and planners to find more rational solutions for these challenges.

Abstract

In this paper, I try to put forward a new model for curriculum evaluation, entitled ECCP (Evaluating Curriculum as a Complex Phenomenon), out of my perception of curriculum as a complex event. In the abovementioned model, various dimensions and aspects of curriculum (written, operationalized, experienced, tested, and flourished) are evaluated by three criteria (intended ideals, implicit elements, and overlooked aspects) which finally forms a 15-cell matrix. I firmly believe that evaluating and assessing curriculum as a complex phenomenon requires answers to the questions posed by each cell. It is also endorsed by the model that any evaluation plan ought to locate curriculum in context to offer meaningful results and findings.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to employ a mixed method of convergent triangulation design to evaluate the seventh-grade math curriculum. qualitative phase of  study was a case study, whereas quantitative stage was an evaluation study with the CIPP model. research population consisted of  seventh-grade female mathematics teachers and students of Islamshahr. purposeful sampling method was a strategy to collect qualitative data through a semi-structured interview in the qualitative inquiry, while multistage random cluster sampling was running to fill questionnaires and analyzing final exams in the quantitative study. results showed that quality of the context is high and desirable, where the condition of input is low and unsuitable. Moreover, the quality of the process and product was acceptable from the teachers and students' points of view. In addition, analyzing mathematics examinations indicated that the knowledge of students is insufficient, while they did not also have a positive attitude towards mathematics.

Abstract

This article has been compiled with the aim of introducing the descriptive evaluation disadvantages of elementary school from the perspective of Iranian curriculum planners. For this purpose, the method of "educational connoisseurship and criticism" was used under the qualitative approach. The sample was selected by intensity sampling method and information was collected through semi-structured interviews. The obtained information was analyzed by "thematic analysis" method and to validate the findings, the "information group review" method was used. Data analysis showed that the descriptive evaluation as a project in the field of education and curriculum has four disadvantages: "high expectations, lack of professional supervision, ineffective guides and poor investment", in the field of teacher practice has four disadvantages "competence Low, low credibility, difficulty of action and organizational pressure" and in the field of student behavior has four disadvantages "decrease in motivation, decrease in literacy, increase in expectations and useless competition
