Today urban public spaces are the most important part of a city. In these spaces, most interactions between citizens take place. these spaces play a pivotal role in explaining human behavior, they are very important in the formation of behavioral setting. The present article analyzes the factors influencing the formation of standing patterns of behavior in Azadi Square in Kermanshah. this square is the main square of this city, Despite the communication role of this field, its social function is at a low level. The research method of this article was descriptive and survey. to collect data, the technique of observation, photography and face-to-face events and physical presence in the study area has been used. Interviews were part of the data sources used in this study. the interviewees were selected randomly depending on the volume of pedestrian flows in the study area. each interview lasted an average of about 12 minutes. analysis of maps of behavioral patterns in the area of Azadi Square in Kermanshah shows the mismatch between the form space and functions of the square. in this place, dynamic and static activities have had a considerably short duration. the aimless combination of field details has prevented its visual expression. the weakness of the human dimension of the field has caused its quality to decline for some activities such as meeting, exercising and playing, sitting and stopping or even walking. in general, it can be said that the quality of Azadi Square in Kermanshah has not been such that all the functional needs of the people in it can be satisfactorily met. Therefore, paying attention to the internal relationship between a standing pattern of behavior and the environment that this research has sought to identify can help designers to improve the quality of the environment.
