Abstract

Iraq is considered the most important part of Iran's foreign policy. For Iranian policymakers, Iraq is a more critical and therefore more sensitive operational theater than other countries where Iran supports local militia groups. History has shown that events in Iraq can have important consequences for Iran's stability. Iraq continues to be a threat to Iran's national security, and that is why Iran seeks to shape Iraq's internal policy and strategic direction. Since 2003, Iran has skillfully infiltrated the Iraqi Shia population by taking advantage of the long common borders and cultural, religious and economic relations with Iraq. Iran's influence is multifaceted and includes access to a wide range of political and social actors. Therefore, this research seeks to investigate the different factors of geoculture in Iran-Iraq relations. To achieve this goal, descriptive-analytical method and Wizard software were used. The findings of the research showed that the divergent factors in geoculture relations between Iran and Iraq were in critical and semi-critical conditions. The robust scenario board consists of 8 different possible situations. Out of these 8 possible situations, 3 are critical, 1 is semi-critical, 1 is static, 2 are semi-optimal, and 1 is optimal. Meanwhile, it should be stated that the majority of Iranian and Iraqi citizens have a common religion, and that is Shia Islam. Hozas or seminaries in the religious cities of Qom in Iran and Najaf in Iraq are centers of Shiite education. However, they were developed under two distinct and competing traditions. Therefore, this factor could be used to improve the situation.

Abstract

Technological innovations are known to be effective parameter in developing and designing architectural spaces in metropolis; however the impact of technology on the architecture of different communities in the world is not the same. The purpose of the paper is to depict a clearer view of the relation between culture and technology in contemporary architecture in globalization era. This paper examines the theories in the context of globalization by applying descriptive-analytical method by investigating documents. The results indicate that the relation between culture and architecture in this context based on the viewpoint of the Castells and Giddens and Robertson, that based on the limited boundaries, limitations and network communities, is not weakened, but a new form has taken stand against the unification strategy and represents a kind of unity while pluralism.
The usage of technology includes removing boundaries, flexibility and diminution of distances. This can be investigated not only in the physical dimensions but also in various cultural aspects. The consequences affect architecture and culture that can be maintained by retaining the transcendental concepts of the past rather than superficial imitation of culture and technology in order to redefine new layers with the introduction of technology in globalization era.

Abstract

Interactions and sometimes contradictions in economic and cultural priorities which happen due to social transformations, changes in paradigms and changes in economic – political systems led to changes in urban regeneration concept. The role of culture in urban regeneration had significant changes comparing to other factors; and the cultural focuses became the main approach in urban regeneration in recent decades. The quality of built environment and level of residents’ satisfaction plays an important role in regeneration policies of target areas as well. This study investigates the impact of environment quality variables (environmental, physical, economic and social) on level of residents’ satisfaction in cultural neighborhoods of Kerman, with the goal of improving the regeneration process. The method of this research is applied-developmental in terms of the aim, and descriptive and causal comparative in terms of the nature. This study uses questionnaire as a tool for collecting data. The study sample size is 513 and the data were analyzed by SPSS and AMOS softwares. The results demonstrate a significant direct relationship between economic and physical variables as well as social variables and consequently the same relationship between economic and the sense of satisfaction. The results also indicate a significant inverse relationship between environmental variables, which are effective on sense of satisfaction, and economic variables. The results of structural equation modeling (SEM) show that improvement in the condition of economic, physical and environmental variables, will improve condition of social variables and the sense of satisfaction in the studied neighborhoods. Furthermore, analysis showed that economic variables have more effect on social variables and eventually on the sense of satisfaction as compared to physical and environmental variables. Therefore, the negative effects of each four aforementioned factors could be decreased in the studied neighborhood through planning and application of culture-led regeneration policies. Accordingly the increase in the sense of satisfaction would improve the revitalization and sustainability in these neighborhoods.

Abstract

One of the issues facing today's cities in Iran is the issue of maintaining and upgrading existing streets. The way of managing theses streets and dealing with them has caused various problems in different aspects of cities. The purpose of this research is investigating the principles of maintenance and promotion of urban streets with a focus on Islamic teachings and Iranian culture. This research also explains some ways to improve the quality of urban streets using Islamic teachings and Iranian culture. Gathering information was done through observation, field study and documentary studies. Using content analysis methods, documenting and graphical analysis, information and data were analyzed. The quality of the cities depends on the quality of the streets and the quality of the streets is also based on the details of the streets. After designing and constructing urban streets, they need attention, maintenance and promotion in order to be always attractive and desirable for citizens. The results of this study indicate neglecting the indigenous material, art, culture, religion, needs and interests of citizens which has led to the construction of unqualified urban spaces in the metropolitan areas of today's Iranian cities. This research did not seek to provide a template for urban streets designing, but it is in direction of developing principles of planning and designing urban streets based on Islamic teachings and Iranian culture. In addition to having appearances according to Islamic teachings and Iranian culture, desirable street for Iranian citizens should also be Islamic and Iranian internally. With Just the correctness of appearances it can be said that only hypocrisy is obtained, but with internal reforming, honesty can be created in urban spaces.

Abstract

In the contemporary century, with increasing development of technology, one of the challenges of contemporary architecture is to find its relationship with the culture. New technologies from industrialized countries with developmental goals are imported in an uncontrolled process. In contemporary Iranian architecture, technology has had a serious presence in various fields. The main purpose of the research was to investigate the cultural transformation of contemporary buildings in Tehran according to the application of technology. Due to the variety of types of use, this study focused on official complex compared to the two periods before and after the Islamic Revolution. The research method used in this research is combined (quantitative-qualitative). First, the components of technology and culture in accordance with contemporary architecture in the office buildings of Tehran have been developed by qualitative research method, then by quantitative research method, the relationship between key factors involved and the share of each component has been investigated. To examine the hypothesis, the relationship of three variables of culture, technology and architecture has been identified. In this study, cultural developments have been evaluated in two dimensions: mental and objective components. The results show that the effects of metamorphosis have had the greatest impact on the objective components of culture, including individual and social strata. Finally, the issue of technology application in contemporary office buildings in Tehran with a culture-based approach has been proposed in the form of a strategic model that will lead to the correct application of technology in office buildings in Tehran.
