در سال‌های اخیر ورزش‌های ماجراجویانه سریعاً در حال رشد بوده است. ورزش‌های ماجراجویانه فعالیت‌هایی جدید و جذاب و به‌طور معمول شامل میزانی از چالش‌های فیزیکی و ذهنی و حضور نسبی مولفه طبیعت هستند. فعالیت‌های ماجراجویانه مسیرهای جدیدی را در فعالیت ورزشی ارائه کرده‌اند و گاهی به عنوان رقیب ورزش‌های مرسوم معرفی می‌شوند. هدف این پژوهش ارائه الگویی برای توسعه ورزش‌های ماجراجویانه بود. بدین منظور از روش کیفی و با استفاده از استراتژی تحقیق نظریه داده‌بنیاد  با رویکرد اشتراوس و کوربین  انجام شد. منابع جمع‌آوری داده‌ها شامل مبانی نظری (کتاب‌ها و مقالات)، مصاحبه با متخصصین ورزش‌های تفریحی و ارائه‌دهندگان خدمات تفریحی فعالیت‌های ماجراجویانه، گروه‌های کانونی و فیلم‌های مستند و سینمایی مرتبط با ورزش‌های ماجراجویانه می‌باشد. این پژوهش منتج به ارائه الگوی توسعه ورزش‌های ماجراجویانه شد.در این الگوشرایط علّی پدید‌آورندهو توسعه‌دهنده ورزش‌های ماجراجویانه، بافت ورزش‌های ماجراجویانه، شرایط واسطه‌ای و شرایط زمینه‌ای حاکم، راهبردها و اقدامات لازم برای توسعه ورزش‌های ماجراجویانه و پیامدها و نتایج این توسعه ارائه شده است. پیشنهاد می‌شود برای شناخت و برخورد مناسب با این حوزه که به احتمال زیاد در آینده به یکی از بخش‌های اصلی ورزش تبدیل خواهد شد، پژوهش‌های علمی بیشتری خصوصاً با رویکرد آینده‌پژوهی صورت گیرد.
