مسیر گذار از قهرمانی تا رسیدن به منزلت پهلوانی، راهی بس دشوار اما امکان پذیر است، بنابراین هدف تحقیق طراحی الگوی پهلوان پروری در ورزش ایران بود. تحقیق حاضر با رویکرد اکتشافی به صورت کیفی و از نوع گراندد تئوری با رویکرد استراس و کوربین (1998) انجام گرفت. جامعه آماری تحقیق را کارشناسان و نخبگان تشکیل می دادند که با روش نمونه گیری نظری و طرح نمونه گیری غیرتصادفی هدفمند انتخاب گردیدند. ابزار جمع آوری داده ها مصاحبه نیمه ساختار یافته بود که محقق پس از انجام 19 مصاحبه به اشباع نظری رسید و داده های حاصل از مصاحبه از طریق روش کد گذاری در سه مرحله باز، محوری و انتخابی مورد تحلیل قرار گرفتند. یافته ها شامل محور زمینهای با 10 مولفه ی (بسترهای فاسد، اخلاقیات، اقتصاد سازی، فراموشی، بی قداستی، غربزدگی، ساختار معیوب، جنگ مقام، تعامل و بی اصالتی)، مداخله گر با 8 مولفه ی (ارتباطات، اشرافی گری، دینداری، قدمت، فرهنگ، ساختار، سیاست و اجتماع) و راهبردی شامل 8 مولفه ی (پایش انحرافات، فرهنگ سازی، ساختار سازی، تکریم، خود سازی و آموزش) بود. بنظر می رسد که سه عنصر جامعه، ورزش و فرد در سیر تکامل و توسعه پهلوانی ورزشکار موثر است که راهبردهای پیشنهادی این تحقیق می تواند به تحقق آن کمک نماید.
