هواداران دوست دارند در مورد تیم و بازیکنان محبوب خود با سایرین گفتگو و بحث کنند. هواداران تیم‌های حرفه‌ای از رسانه‌های اجتماعی برای کسب اطلاعات بیشتر در مورد تیم‌ها، ارتباط با دیگر هواداران، دنبال‌کردن تیم‌ها و بازیکنان و خلق جامعه‌ هواداری، استفاده می‌کنند. رسانه‌های اجتماعی با قابلیت ایجاد شبکه کاربران، به بستری تبدیل شده است که محققان برای مطالعه رفتار هواداران از آن بهره می‌برند. با توجه به اینکه اعضای جامعه هواداری با هم ارتباط متقابل دارند نظرات آنان در رسانه‌های اجتماعی نیز ارتباط مشخصی با یکدیگر دارد. برای درک ارتباط نظر هواداران، تحقیق حاضر از رویکرد شبکه برای کشف ارتباط نظر‌ات هواداران الکلاسیکو با یکدیگر بهره برده است. در این مطالعه، فیس‌بوک به عنوان بستر پژوهش برای تحلیل مصرف رسانه‌ای هواداران درباره بازی الکاسیکو در فصل 18-2017 انتخاب شد. در نهایت، نظرات هواداران در 14 دسته قرار گرفت. نتایج نشان داد سه گره «اشاره به تیم»، «اشاره به فرد» و «اشاره به بازی» مهم‌ترین مقوله‌هایی هستند که شبکه گفتگو بین هواداران را پویا نگه داشته است. در حالی که به لحاظ ساختاری و شبکه‌ای این سه گره «اشاره به تیم»، «اشاره به فرد» و «اشاره به بازی» مهم هستند اما از دیدگاه رفتارگرایی، هویت تیم نقش اساسی در ایجاد چنین شبکه‌ای دارد. این بدان معنی است که نقش زیربنایی گره «استفاده از ما و آن‌ها» در شبکه نظر‌ات مسلم است.
