به‌کارگیری ابزار مناسب و روش‌های علمی و سیستماتیک استعدادیابی می‌تواند فرآیند شناسایی و پرورش استعدادهای ورزشی را برای رسیدن به سطح قهرمانی سرعت بخشیده و شرایطی فراهم آورد که ورزشکاران مستعد هر چه سریعتر به بالاترین سطح عملکردی خود دست پیدا کنند. هدف از انجام این پژوهش طراحی، پایایی‌سنجی و اعتباریابی نرم‌افزار استعدادیابی بر پایه منطق فازی در رشته فوتبال بود. در این پژوهش با انتخاب مهم‌ترین شاخص‌های استعدادیابی فوتبال در حوزه‌های فیزیولوژیکی، قابلیت‌های حرکتی، مهارتی و روان‌شناختی و بر اساس نورم فوتبالیست‌های پسر (۱۶-۱۴ سال) رده نوجوانان نخبه و ملی‌پوش فوتبال ایران، الگوریتمی بر پایۀ منطق فازی (به وسیله بسته ابزار منطق فازی در نرم‌افزار MATLAB) طراحی شده است. نرم‌افزار رکورد فوتبالیست‌های نوجوان در شاخص‌های استعدادیابی مذکور را به مثابه ورودی دریافت کرده و با مقایسه با هنجار همتایان نخبه و ملی‌پوش، آنان را در وضعیت‌های نامتناسب، نیمه‌متناسب، متناسب، استعداد درخشان یا نادر طبقه‌بندی می‌کند. برای تعیین پایایی و روایی الگوریتم طراحی شده، رکورد فوتبالیست‌های نخبه رده نوجوانان دو کشور برزیل و پرتقال در شاخص‌های استعدادیابی در ورودی نرم‌افزار اعمال شد و نتایج حاصل از خروجی با نتایج حاصل از هنجار نوجوانان فوتبالیست ملی‌پوش ایرانی مقایسه گردید.
