در این مطالعه تنوع‌پذیری ریختی سه گونه از سرده Squalius در حوضه‌های آبی ایران به اجرا درآمد. بدین منظور تعداد 709 قطعه ماهی سفید رودخانه‌ای از چهار حوضه خزر، ارومیه، نمک و دجله صید شد. نمونه‌های صید شده ابتدا در محلول پودر گل‌میخک بی‌هوش و در فرمالین10درصد بافری تثبیت شده سپس برای مطالعه بیشتر به آزمایشگاه ماهی‌شناسی دانشکده منابع طبیعی دانشگاه صنعتی اصفهان منتقل شدند. در آزمایشگاه تعداد 14 صفت شمارشی محاسبه شد. همچنین از عکس‌های گرفته شده از سمت چپ نمونه‌ها در نرم‌افزار ImageJ تعداد 19 صفت اندازه‌گیری شد و به منظور استخراج داده‌های ریخت‌سنجی هندسی تعداد 13 لندمارک بر روی تصاویر گرفته شده در نرم‌افزار tpsDig2 قرار داده شد. به­منظور پی­بردن به تفاوت‌های میان جمعیت‌های تحت مطالعه از تحلیل­های کولموگروف- اسمیرنوف، کروسکال- والیس، ANOVA، آزمون دانکن، PCA، CVA و تحلیل خوشه‌ای استفاده شد. نتایج حاصل از PCA و CVA تفاوت معناداری میان جمعیت‌های تحت مطالعه نشان نداد. جمعیت‌های گونه‌های تحت مطالعه در 11 صفت شمارشی و 15 صفت اندازشی با یکدیگر تفاوت معناداری داشتند. همچنین عمده تفاوت‌های مشاهده شده حاصل از نتایج ریخت‌سنجی هندسی نیز مربوط به موقعیت بالۀ سینه‌ای، عمق بدن و اندازه سر بود. در کل جمعیت‌های تحت مطالعه هم‌پوشانی بالایی با یکدیگر داشتند. پیشنهاد می‌شود جمعیت‌های گونه‌های ماهی سفید رودخانه‌ای با روش‌های ژنتیکی و مولکولی نیز بررسی شوند
