شناسایی ویژگی­ های گونه­ های شورزی محلی اهمیت زیادی در استفاده کاربردی از آنها دارد. مطالعه حاضر با هدف شناسایی گونه­ های شورزی منطقه­ ای بیابانی و بسیار شور در اطراف شهرستان خوسف واقع در استان خراسان جنوبی و تشخیص روش تحمل شوری (دفع یا انباشت نمک) آنها انجام شده است. برای این منظور، انباشت سدیم در ریشه و اندام ­هوایی هفت گونه شامل چرخه (Launaea arborescens)، اسپند (Peganum harmala)، پرند کوهی (Pteropyrum olivieri)، درمنه سفید (Artemisia santolina)، قیچ (Zygophyllum eurypterum)، پشموک (Aerva javanica.) و کک­ کش بیابانی (Pulicaria gnaphalodes) و خاک اطراف ریشه آنها بررسی شد. در ادامه، ضريب انباشتگي زيستي سدیم (Bioconcentration Factor: BCF) در ریشه، ضریب تراجایی (Translocation factors: TF) آن از ریشه به اندام­ هوایی و ضریب انباشتگی (Accumulation Factor: AF) در اندام هوایی محاسبه شد. نتایج نشان داد که خاک منطقه از نوع لومی رسی و EC آن به بزرگی 65 دسی زیمنس بر متر (ds/m) است که نشان دهنده شوری بسیار زیاد خاک است. بر طبق مقادیر نسبت جذب سدیم (SAR)، درصد سدیم تبادلی (ESP) و با در نظرگیری EC خاک این منطقه در زمره خاک­ های شور-سدیمی قرار دارد. ضریب TF در برخی گونه­ ها بیش­تر از یک بود. با این حال، از آنجا که در هیچ یک از گونه­ های مورد بررسی ضریب  BCFو AF بیش­تر از یک نبود، گونه­ های مذکور جذب­ کننده­ ­یا انباشتگر سدیم نیستند. در مقابل، به نظرمی­ رسد که همه گونه­ های مورد مطالعه، دفع­ کننده نمک و یا حداقل دفع­ کننده سدیم هستند.
