Abstract

The aim of this study was to explain obsessive-compulsive symptoms according to disgust, anxiety and depression in a non-clinical sample. one hundred students (50 girls, 50 boys) were included in this study. All participants were asked to complete Maudsley Obsessive-Compulsive Inventory (MOCI), Disgust Scale (DS), State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI), and Beck Depression Inventory (BDI). Analysis of the data involved both descriptive and inferential statistics including means, standard deviations, Pearson' correlation coefficients and regression analyses. The results revealed that disgust, anxiety and depression were significantly positively correlated with total obsessive-compulsive scores in both males and females. The results of regression analysis showed checking and doubt symptoms were best predicted by state-trait anxiety, while washing were best predicted by disgust. These findings are in line with the hypothesis of a specific relationship between disgust and at least some kinds of obsessive symptoms.

Abstract

The aim of the this research was to present a causal model for explaining hope through using Structural Equation Modeling in a sample of Iranian University students. Therefore, a sample of 379 students were selected via multiple stage sampling method from Hamadan university and they responded to Sympson's Hope Scale, Sherer self-efficacy scale, adult attachment style scale, multidimensional perceived social support, life regard index (Meaningful life) and goal orientation questionnaire. Before fitting the basic model, psychometric properties of the tools were investigated through exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis. In the designed model, attachment styles, Meaningful life and social support were considered as the exogenous latent variables (independent variables), self-efficacy and mastery goal orientation as the mediator latent variables, and hope as the endogenous latent variable (dependent variable). Results indicated that theoretical model was fit with the data. Also the results showed that the social support and Meaningful life were directly and indirectly, and secure attachment was directly in a significant relationship with the hope. Furthermore, avoidance attachment was directly in a significant relationship with the hope through self-efficacy mediator variable. All the variables proposed to explain the hope could explain 0.46 percent of its variance.

Abstract

The goal of this research was to compare the emotional Schemas and to study the relationship between anxiety, worry and emotional Schema in Patients with Obsessive-Compulsive disorder, Social anxiety disorder and in normal group. The sample of the study included 90 Participants (30 patients with obsessive–Compulsive disorder, 30 patients with social anxiety disorder, and 30 normal subjects). Participants completed Schemas Scale Leahy (LESS), Pennsylvania State Worry Questionnaire (PSWQ), Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI), Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) and the General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-28). People with social anxiety disorder and obsessive–compulsive disorder had significant difference compared to the normal group in the schemas of the comprehensibility, control, consensus, guilt and rumination. However, in the schema of guilt those with obsessive-compulsive disorder were significantly different from those afflicted with social anxiety disorder. Some aspects of emotional schemas in patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder and social anxiety were different from the normal group and the anxiety and worry were associated with some aspects of the emotional schemas.

Abstract

This study investigated the Mediating Role of Cognitive Emotion Regulation in the Relationship between Brain-Behavioral Systems and eating behaviors among individuals with overweight and obesity by structural equation modeling. The statistical population consisted of women and men suffering from overweight and obesity who went to health centers, and sports clubs of Tehran in autumn and winter of 2017. Using convenient sampling method, 500 of them were selected. Duct behavior questionnaire (Van Strien, Frijters, Bergers & Defares, 1986), Cognitive Emotion Regulation (Garnefski & Kraaij, 2006), Measurement of Inhibition / Behavioral Activation Systems (Carver & White, 1994) were used for gathering data. Findings showed that maladaptive cognitive emotion regulation relatively mediated the relationship between brain-behavioral systems, and eating behaviors. Finally ,it was determined that the model (After the modification of model based on statistical results) had a better fit to the observed data. And predictive variables significantly explained 53 percent of eating behaviors. Brain-behavioral systems and emotional cognitive regulation play an important role in predicting eating behaviors in overweight and obese patients, so their role should be considered in prevention and treatment programs.

Abstract

Intolerance of uncertainty is a kind of cognitive bias that affects how an individual receives, interprets and reacts to an uncertain situation in the emotional, cognitive and behavioral levels. The purpose of present study was to determine the various factors that influenced the intolerance of uncertainty by using the meta-analysis method and integrating the results of previous research. By using Articles in scientific journals, all the preceding studies conducted across the country during the years 2010-2017 collected and investigated. Eventually 12 eligible studies in the field of intolerance of uncertainty with acceptable methodology including sampling methods and proper statistical validity and reliability and appropriate questionnaires selected. The research tool was the meta-analysis checklist. For this purpose, the researches, which were methodologically accepted, were selected and meta-analyzed. Homogeneous assumptions and emission errors investigated. The coefficient of effect size was evaluated using CMA-2 software. results showed that metacognitive beliefs had the highest effect size, and after that, the highest effects size were related to stress, inability to take action, and negative repeated thoughts, although the effect size of behavioral inhibition and behavioral activation was not statistically significant. Therefore, attention to these variables can help to formulate and improve the therapeutic interventions related to intolerance of uncertainty.

Abstract

According to the prevalence of cancer in Iran and the importance of women’ s suffering from breast cancer psychological survey, credit scoring of Resilience instrument has been used in this research. The questionnaire of Connor-Davidson (CD-RISC) - including 25 questions-was answered by 202 breast cancers women who had been under treatment all over Tehran’s hospitals. Confirmatory Factor Analysis(CFA) and Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) has been used for validity consideration. In the confirmatory factor analysis, all fitting indices have been found to be optimal and factor matrix has been calculated based on 2 factors. These two factors had totally 48/37% of total variance. The First Value was 10/75 that was 43/025% of total variance and the ratio of the first value to the second was 1/33 that it was 5/319 %of total variance. According to the results, in general the highest Cronbach’s Coefficient Alpha was related to the first factor (α=0/935) and the least was relevant to the second factor (α=0/792) and for the whole factors, (α=0/942) is calculated which shows the high internal coordination. In conclusion, results have proved the accessibility of Connor-Davidson (CD-RISC) instrument in women with breast cancer.

Abstract

The present study was conducted with the aim of determining the effectiveness of Mindful Self-Compassion Training on worry and Distress Tolerance in the mothers of children with intellectual disability. This semi-experimental study was conducted using pre-test and post-test with control group. The statistical population was whole client mothers of the children with intellectual disability in Ardabil comprehensive health clinic in the year 2022. 30 mothers were selected through the purposive sampling method and randomly assigned into two equal experimental and control.  Experimental group received 8 weeks of Mindful Self-Compassion Training 90 minutes each session. During this period, the control group did not receive any intervention. Pennsylvania Worry Questionnaire and Distress Tolerance were used in pre-test, post-test to assess the subjects. Data were analyzed by Multivariate Analysis of Covariance (MANCOVA) and Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA). The result showed that Mindful self-Compassion Training was effective on worry and distress tolerance. Therefore, it could be said that the Mindful self-Compassion Training improvement worry and distress tolerance scores in the mothers of children with intellectual disability.
