Abstract

The purpose of this study is investigating on the role of spirituality and awareness and attitude towards disease in the feeling of suffering in patients with AIDS/HIV. In this descriptive cross-sectional study, 43 patients had selected of all patients with AIDS/HIV in cities of Zahedan, Iranshahr and Saravan in Sistan&Baluchestan province, by available sampling. The variables were measured by using the Spirituality Questionnaire and Scale of Experience and Perception of Suffering and Questionnaire Awareness and Attitudes towards Disease. Data were analyzed by using Pearson’s correlation coefficient and Stepwise multiple regression. Results showed that there is a significant positive relationship between physical suffering and attitudes towards disease. Psychological suffering has a negative significant relationship with spirituality and has a positive significant with attitude towards disease. Spiritual/existential suffering has a positive significant relationship with spirituality, and a negative significant relationship with attitudes towards disease. The results of stepwise regression showed that psychological suffering is predicted by attitudes towards disease. Also self-awareness and attitudes towards disease is significant predictorfor spiritual/existential suffering. According to these results, it can be deduced that spirituality and attitudes towards disease have impact on feeling of suffering in patients with AIDS/HIV. Also spirituality and positive attitudes towards disease as coping styles can be used to reduce feelings of suffering in patients with AIDS/HIV.

Abstract

Psychiatric disorders exhist in patients with chronic pulmonary diseases. Psychotherapy of these patients, is less considered and the goal of this study was trying to evaluate the effectiveness of psychotherapy based on mindfulness (which includes facilitation of the experience of stressful physical diseases) on reducing of dysfunctional attitudes and distress tolerance in sample patients.
This applied study conducted on 30 chronic pulmonary patients (control and experimental group) hospitalized in Massih Daneshvari Hospital in the year 2013-2014. Just the experimental group received the psychological intervention of mindfulness based on cognitive therapy in 13 sessions of two hours. Members of both groups responded to questionnaires of demographic information, distress tolerance and dysfunctional attitudes before and after the intervention. Data analyzed by SPSS-21 statistical software and co-variance analysis.
Dysfunctional attitudes, tolerability and aversiveness, tendency to attract the attention, evaluation and potentiality of acceptance changed more in experimental group. Emotion regulation and avoidance changed more in control group.
Considering the effectiveness of mindfulness based on cognitive therapy, it is important to pay attention to psychological problems
of chronic physical patients. Medical treatment does not provide mental and physical readiness in patients to confront with such difficult situations, alone. Thus, overall attention of treatment team to patients is necessary.

Abstract

The prevalence of high-risk behaviors in communities, especially in teens is a serious health threat that has received much attention in recent years. Therefore the aim of this study is to investigate the role of metacognitive beliefs and attitude to pre-marital relationships in anticipation of risky behaviors in adolescents. Accordingly, a correlational descriptive research method was selected. The research population consisted of adolescents with 17 to 20 years old of district 12 of tehran in 1393. The sample consisted of 80 adolescents in 40 girls and 40 boys who were selected by convenience sampling. To collect data, we used 30-point meta cognition questionnaire(MCQ-30), scale of attitude to pre-marital relationships, and high-risk behaviors scale. The results of current study showed that there was a negative and significant relationship between all components of metacognition and a variety of high-risk behaviors. As well as, there was a positive and significant relationship between attitude toward pre-marital relationships and tendency to high-risk behaviors. Then, regression analysis showed that attitude to pre-marital relationships includes highest predictive power for tendency to relation with the opposite sex which is a component of high-risk behaviors. As well as, among the components of metacognition, the component of need to thoughts control, includes the highest predictive power for high-risk behaviors.

Abstract

The aim of the present study was identifying tendency to cigarette smoking based on the health believes, attitudes, subjective norms and resiliency among university students. It was a cross-sectional study which was conducted on 361 university students. Two questionnaires, one based on the health believe model and the theory of reasoned action, and the other about resiliency were completed. Data were analyzed through SPSS and Partial Least Squares (PLS) packages. The main study (conducted after pilot study) showed that 16/66% of 108 subjects who ever smoked, tried it before age 10. All friends of more than 10/5% of them (108 subjects) smoked cigarettes. Structural equation modeling showed that the conceptual model could predict tendency to tobacco smoking among university students. The highest coefficient was between attitudes and smoking. Subjective-norm was the next. The results confirm previous findings. The components couldcontribute in a reliable research model for studying risky B., smoking. The HBM might work better while is associated with attitudes andSN.Association of complementary elements (resiliency) with the model might be useful

Abstract

This research is aimed to examine reliability and validity of the questionnaire which was about individuals' viewpoints on medical help-seeking. The method used in this study was test-type standardization; therefore, a descriptive, survey-type method has been applied. The statistical population includes 1100 students majoring in Psychology, studying at Payam-e- Noor University, South Tehran Branch, in 2016. A convenience-sampling method was used in this study, and 220 students were chosen out of the population mentioned. Cronbach 's Alpha Coefficient method was applied for data analysis; test-duplication was administered to assess validity. In order to examine the questionnaire’s reliability, both exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and correlation coefficient were used. The amount obtained for Cronbach’s Alpha was 85%, and the amounts for re-examination and test duplication were .85 and .75respectively, thus it could be concluded that the questionnaire has an acceptable reliability. Both construct validity and concurrent validity were used to examine the questionnaire’s reliability. it can be said that the questionnaire has an appropriate validity based on variance scale. The confirmatory factor analysis indicated that the obtained factors make a significant model with their own elements and are properly acceptable. In this study, both construct and concurrent reliability were used to investigate the correlation between medical help-seeking and help-seeking behavior in general. According to the results obtained from The Pearson Correlation Coefficient, there has been a significant relationship between help-seeking and help-seeking behavior.

Abstract

Aim of the present study was to examine the validity and reliability of positive psychotherapy questionnaire (PPTQ) and the relationship of its components with flourishing and dysfunctional attitudes. To do so, a group of 1416 students were selected. Population of the study included all students of the universities of Mashhad city, Khorasan Province, in the academic year 2017. These subjects were selected through multistage cluster sampling method. Participants filled the questionnaires of PPTQ, FQ and DAS-24. Alpha Cronbach and confirmatory factor analysis were used for determining the reliability and validity of the questionnaire respectively. Findings demonstrated that PPTQ and flourishing questionnaire subscales were positively correlated. Internal consistency of PPTQ was 0.85. Therefore, based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that 21-item PPTQ can be reliable and valid enough in Iranian students.

Abstract

With the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic disease and the social and economic consequences of this pandemic, volunteering and helping activities especially for needy people and the society in crisis developed. The aim of this study was to explore the role of attachment styles, empathy and self-compassion in predicting attitude toward helping during Covid-19 Outbreak in Iranian society. The present study conducted in April and May 2020 in Iran. The study sample (n=348) selected by convenient sampling method. Instruments of this study were the adult attachment scale, self-compassion scale, basic empathy scale, and helping attitude scale. Findings showed that participation of women; employed ones and the 25-35 year old age group were more than men, unemployed ones and other age group. There was significant difference between volunteer and non-volunteer groups in helping attitude, self-judgment, isolation, mindfulness, over-identification and secure attachment style. Correlation coefficients indicated that self-kindness; common humanity, isolation, mindfulness, cognitive empathy and secure attachment had positive significant correlation with helping attitude. In addition, anxious attachment negatively associated with helping attitude. Regression analysis indicated that cognitive empathy, emotional empathy, secure attachment style and mindfulness predicted helping attitude. It can conclude that volunteers for community services during COVID-19 outbreak had positive attitude toward helping and had more secure attachment styles and higher level of self-compassion in comparison to non-volunteers. It seems having strong empathy, secure attachment style and being mindful, are psychological prerequisites for having positive volunteering and helping attitudes.

Abstract

The COVID-19 virus pandemic, beginning from late 2019 and its continues presence in 2020 has influenced the entire 8 billion populations of human society, governmental structures and health care systems throughout the world. The highest impact of this virus is on humans, despite their  sex, race and cultural background. As a result of its extensive effects, contagious nature and its effect on human's psychological conditions, the term Corona-phobia was introduced. In some countries, the exaggeration and derivatives of this fear have led to public anxiety. Attitude, beliefs and human values can define the state of this phobia in its individual and general sense. Attitude is an evaluation which is built upon facing different matters and can be produced through cognition, emotion, and behavior. It is formed through time and a transformational process and creates beliefs and values, which are not easy to reframe once shaped. On the other hand, personal attitude and beliefs are in constant connection with cultural beliefs. Perhaps in a maximizing condition, it can be assumed that personal beliefs won't last long without cultural beliefs. Therefore, this new pandemic virus can establish different implications and beliefs, governing our deeds in the years to come. This paper is intended to overlook attitudes and beliefs during the coronal virus pandemic, using a theoretical model, and assess the new formation of personal and cultural beliefs under stress and evaluate the expectancy of new conditions during the post-Corona time.
