Abstract

Background and Aim: This article studies the information literacy skills of Kurdistan University graduate students and its relationship with their information grounds.  
Methods: The research used descriptive-correlation survey methodology. The statistical population consisted of 1977 Master degree students at University of Kurdistan and 321 members thereof selected by stratified random method for research sample. Data collected by a questionnaire including two sections for identification of the students’ information grounds and information literacy skills. Descriptive as well as inferential statistics were used for data analysis.
Results: Kurdistan University graduate students overall information literacy was above average and desirable in five literacy skills. Results on the relationship between research variables showed that there is a positive and strong correlation between academic information grounds and information literacy competencies. Correlation between scientific information grounds and information literacy competencies is positive and suitable where it is positive and moderate between public information grounds and information literacy competencies. There is a negative correlation between first and second information literacy competencies and information grounds; straight and positive correlation between third and fourth information literacy competencies with grounds and fifth information literacy competency and information grounds correlation is insignificant but negative. It is concluded that priorities among three dimensions is for academic and scientific information needs but public information needs is less concerned and deficiency should be improved.
Conclusion: Article is valuable for information literacy competencies recognition and its advantages for correlation indication between information literacy and information grounds and policy making on research population.

Abstract

Background and Aim: Managing the experience the user has in dealing with the website can play a significant role in improvement of a longer and more valuable relationship. One of the new technologies that can play a role in pleasant, enjoyable and effective experience of the users is gamification. Because this technology transforms every day, repetitive, and formal activities into exciting, challenging and entertaining experiences with the rules of the game and makes a different experience for users; also, provides the intention to use and advice to others. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to Digi Kala website features analysis in the field of gamification focusing on the roles of the mediator of experience and attitude of users and impact of the antecedents on intention to use and word of mouth intention   
Methods: This research is applied in terms of purpose and is descriptive in terms of method. The statistical population of the study consisted of all users of Digi Kala online store, which in the period of data collection in July, 2018 were users of this website, and 294 samples were collected by sampling method. The main tool for collecting data was a questionnaire. To analyze and confirm the validity of research, construct validity and convergent validity were investigated. Cronbach's alpha coefficient was used to assess the reliability of the questionnaire. SPSS and LISREL software were used to analyze the data.
Results: All the research hypotheses were approved except for the second hypothesis.
Conclusion: The results of the research show that service quality, system quality and information quality on Digi Kala website affect user experience and user experience on Digi Kala website affects the user's attitude toward it. Also, the user's attitude towards Digi Kala website affects the intention to use and word of mouth intention.

Abstract

Background and Aim: Today, knowledge is essential to the survival and success of any organization. Given that they are the people who create, share and use knowledge, an organization cannot effectively use knowledge unless its employees are willing to share their knowledge and attract knowledge of others. On the other hand, Gamification involves combining the usual mechanisms in the games with the work space, in order to make things more appealing and to direct human behavior towards the goals of the system. Gamification is actually the use of game components on issues other than the game and emphasizes the use of entertainment and pleasure in the work. In this research, it has been tried to study and recognize the Gamification, its dimensions, mechanisms, dynamics, and models, using Grounded Theory method; and the following, we try to find a way to understand the role of the Gamification and apply it to the sharing and dissemination of knowledge.   
Methods: Grounded Theory is an inductive method of theoretical discovery that allows the researcher to develop a report on the general characteristics of the subject; While simultaneously consolidating the basis of this report in empirical data observation. Using purposeful sampling, research data were collected using interviewing tools and analyzed through data analysis and coding principles. 
Results: In this research, after formulating the stages of Grounded Theory and types of data encoding, in the end, a theory with visual modeling is presented and evaluated.
Conclusion: The dimensions of the proposed framework include the “organizational context”, “game-related dimensions”, and “other indicators that affect the Knowledge Sharing- Gamification”. Each of these dimensions includes lower-level components that are described in the model's description. For example, “organizational context” includes incomes, costs, platform, and so on, and “game-related dimensions” include the mechanisms, dynamics and aesthetics of the game

Abstract

Background and Aim: The issues of the contemporary world are becoming more and more complex in the light of the ever-increasing growth of tools and technologies in various areas of nowadays. This complexity, as well as the quick and easy access to information that somehow is known as bombing information, has a great impact on human mind. These effects must be known in order to prevent its destructive factors. The problem of knowing that humanity faces throughout its life will enter into more complex phases during this period. The emergence of new and diverse authorities poses a major threat to awareness. The study aims to examine the issue of confrontation with truth based on Karl Raymond Popper's ideas in the field of epistemology and epistemology. The main question of this research is whether the human mind is better able to face and solve problems in today's world due to extensive communications and abundant data?
Methods: This research is qualitative. In terms of purpose, this research can be considered exploratory and exploratory at the same time. Theoretical foundations of research are based on Popper's thinking that beliefs and knowledge must be constantly tested. The hypothesis is that, in spite of all the possibilities available to mankind for access to information, human remains faced with fundamental mistakes in recognizing issues and making decisions.
Results: The results of the research show that, despite the free flow of information and easy access to data sources, people continue to suffer from making false decisions and giving wrong answers to the most fundamental issues.
Conclusion: In solving many issues, even with collective decisions at high decision-making levels, misconceptions are still being used, which will be a surprise to decision-makers after reassessing the high level of mistakes

Abstract

Background and Aim: Fast pace of progress in technology with its transformations has become an elephant in darkness that different people have different perceptions toward that. Since people in organizations behave according to their own perception of reality, exploring and describing perception and interpreting power of technology could be influential in interpersonal communications made among employees. The target of present study is to deeply describe experiences and diverse perceptions of faculty members of a university from power of technology in interpersonal communications in a way to familiarize managers and employees with new and variant attitudes toward technology and its dominance.   
Methods: The research approach is qualitative in this research and is based on phenomenography approach to achieve deep understanding of collective consciousness among those being studied. Participants are thirteen members of faculty selected through maximum variation sampling to achieve theoretical saturation. Six category of descriptions were obtained at individual, organizational, and social levels through analysis of semi-structured interviews.
Results: At the individual level, two perception methods, including the concept based on individual isolation (little emotional relations, distrust) and hypocritical behaviors (variant behaviors and self-monitoring), are formed; and at the organizational level, social networks, monitoring communications (senior authority, dominance of control in organizational relationships), and weakening the role of human are formed; and at the social level, a category consisting the culture of ostentatious behaviors is formed. In continuation, the obtained category of descriptions cleared the outcome space a bigger structure to relate different methods of experiencing phenomenon and to provide a better multidimensional image of various concepts of individuals being studied.
Conclusion: Findings can be a great help in better understanding of collective consciousness toward technology power in a particular group of people and also better preparing organization to face it.

Abstract

Background and Aim: Technologies such as social networks have provided new opportunities for health and social interactions, and the promotion of attitudes such as the attitudes of health control and improving the health literacy in society. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between the use of social networks with the health literacy of Ilam public library users.
Methods: The present study has used questionnaire based survey method. The statistical population of this study is 4696 users of public libraries in Ilam. Based on Morgan's table, 351 individuals were selected as sample size. The questionnaire was distributed by using of stratified random sampling method. To analyze the data, descriptive and inferential statistical tests were used by SPSS 19 software.
Results: The Findings showed that the components average of users in receiving health literacy information was at a sensible level and, due to the importance of those components, users began to utilize social networks in the field of health literacy. Also, the findings showed that there was a significant relationship between users' use of social networks and health literacy and the components (access, reading, understanding, assessment, application), so that by increasing the use of social networks, the health literacy of users increases as well.
Conclusion: According to the findings, it can be concluded that public libraries, universities and centers related to health cooperate so that held suitable conditions in social networks with the aim of experience sharing and expanding the level of health literacy of users by taking into account issues related to user information confidentiality and so that new facilities and conditions can be provided library users, institutions and planners in this field.

Abstract

Background and aim: New technologies, particularly the Internet, have changed the means of information searching and retrieval in innumerable research methods, as well as qualitative research.  Therefore, researchers awareness of search skills is imperative.  Search skills allows   pursuit of higher self-efficacy. So, the purpose is to investigate the  Role of Online Searching Skills in Predicting Qualitative Research self-efficacy of Payamnoor University Postgraduate students.
Methodology: The research method was correlational descriptive - analytical study.  Population was 277 Postgraduate Students of Payamnoor University and sample of 159 students were selected randomly. For  data collection,   Online Searching skills and Qualitative Research Self efficacy questionnaires were applied. Regression analysis was used to analyze the data.  
Results: The results indicate that there is a relation of Online Searching skills and Research Self efficacy. Also, regression coefficient indicates that Online searching skills could predict research self-efficacy factors of Payamnoor University postgraduate students.
Conclusion: Based on the findings, emphasizing on online search skills and training might lead to an upsurge of self-efficacy of Postgraduate students at this University in qualitative research.

Abstract

Background and Aim: A review of the National Library's clients' viewes on receiving reference services through mobile-based social networks.
Methods: First, through the documentary-library research method, the components of reference services were identified, then, by using a researcher-made questionnaire, the perspective of members of the National Library, was surveyed. Based on the average number of daily visitors to the National Library, the sample size of 217 people was selected based on Morgan's table as a simple random sampling and finally 147 returned questionnaires were analyzed using SPSS software. The Reliability of the questionnaire was confirmed by Cronbach's alpha and its Validity confirmed based on the opinion of 6 experts in library and information science.
Results: 98% of the members of the National Library are users of mobile social networks, and in addition to gaining news and family communication, 63% use it to retrieve scientific information. The average total component of reference services showed that subjects were willing to use this platform to receive reference services.
Conclusion: Mobile social networks have a scientific function for clients of the National Library, and they have already started using social networks for research purposes. From the users' point of view, these networks are a good communication channel for providing reference services, especially information literacy training and answering research questions.

Abstract

Background and Aim: The purpose of the present research is to implement a part of Wilson's model of information behavior to approach consumer behavior. Therefore effect of personality and demographic characteristics were assessed on the information needs of mobile phone customers.
Methods: This is a descriptive correlational survey research. Instruments applied were Rammstedt & John's Personality questionnaire and a researcher made questionnaire. Population consisted of Tehran's main mobile center customers. Sample selected was 384 Mobile customers.   Hypotheses were  tested by  t- test, Spearman correlation, multivariate regression and Pearson correlation.
Findings: Findings for personality  traits reveal that: The effects of four variables including agreeableness, conscientiousness, neuroticism and openness on information needs have been confirmed and concerning the variable of extroversion, the null hypothesis has been confirmed. The demographic data showed that age, income and gender have an influence on information needs. Also, findings related to the variable of education, confirmed the significant relation of this variable with brand conscious.
Conclusion: In addition to highlighting the link between two areas of information behavior and consumer behavior, the research confirmed the relationship and effectiveness of the two intervening variables in Wilson's information behavior model with information needs.

Abstract

Background and Aim: A prevalent disese among old people is Alzheimers (AD), which requires special care due to its nature. Taking relegion, culture and economy into account, mojorty of families protect  an old family member afflicted with AD. However,  major concern is the need for sufficient information regarding treatment of elderly dignosed with AD.
Method: Qualitative research approach was applied and content analysis method utilized to analyze the data. Population  included 9 patients with Alzheimers. The instrument used was a semi-structured interviews.
Finding: The results of the content analysis of the obtained categories showed that the four main categories and sixteen sub categories are important in the information needs of adherents of patients with AD. The main categories include information needs related to AD, information needs related to mental health, information needs related to physical and personal health and information needs related to health services.
Conclusion: In general, amateur cares (caregiver) were of limited knowledge of physical and mental care regarding AD. Healthcare providers or institutions   providing Alzheimer  care are mandatory.  In addition to specialized services, these people have been trained to provide patients with better patient care

Abstract

Background and Aim: The aim of the study is to investigate the prevailing views in the field of information retrieval in information science (system-oriented, user-oriented and domain-oriented) and to enlighten the new view of "semiotics."  The research seeks to answer the following questions: What are the main components of the views in information science? What are the characteristics of the semiotic view  and what is its added value compared to other perspectives?
Methods: Researches  that have used the concepts, models and theories of semiotics in various fields of information science were searched in the databases of Emerald, Scopus, Google Scholar. The retrieved articles were reviewed with the selection of 23 Articles.  The title, abstract and results of the articles as well as the full text of 5 articles associated to the purpose of the research were analyzed via content analysis method.
Results: Findings showed that most of the research in the field was published between 2000 and 2018 by mostly researchers in Denmark. Some articles have explained and defined the concept of information based on the concepts and theories of semiotics and had presented a new view on information science based on the classification, called the semiotic view.
Conclusion: The results showed that system-oriented, user-oriented and domain-oriented views emphasized the document and each of them emphasized an aspect. The semiotic point of view, information is intended as sign and can combine the characteristics of the three views and define the information regardless of the media that carries it and remove the boundaries of the document.

Abstract

Background and Aim: E-learning is an important topic  in the educational settings and students are  significant prerequisites of it,  who have an essential role for the acceptance and effective use of e-learning management systems so that knowing their attitudes and mental models is essential for the successful implementation of such a method. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the Adoption Rate of students' mental model with the structure of the learning management system of the University of Tehran using the card sorting method.   
Methodology: Research had qualitative approach with card sorting and interview tools. Usabilitest software, descriptive statistics, distance matrix, and hierarchical clustering were used to analyze the data. Sample consisted of 15 postgraduate students at Tehran  University (second semester of the academic year 2019-2020) that were interacting with the learning management system (Moodle).
Findings: Findings indicate that out of 42 cards examined, the status and classification of 36 cards (85%) in the learning management system were fully consistent with the participants' mental model and only in some cases such as "Help" and" Recent lessons referred" according to their mental model, users expected these sections to be placed in other categories. As well as labeling; 66% of users found the "settings" tag more appropriate than their "preferences" and the function of some, such as "medal management", "medal preferences" was unclear to them. Also, the categories presented in the three sections: "User Profile", "Quick Access" and "My Lessons" were approved by users.
Conclusion: The results show that the degree of adaptation of students' mental model to the structure of the learning management system of the University of Tehran is at a desirable level.

Abstract

Background and Aim: The purpose of this study is to determine the quality requirements of the National Digital Library based on the Kano model and categorize users needs into three groups of:  Basic, functional and motivational.
Methods: This survey was conducted with a qualitative approach. The requirements of the digital library were extracted using two standards: "Digiqual manual" and the "Digital Library Evaluation Manual."   The requirements were adjusted based on Kano model in a questionnaire consisting of four categories and 52 pairs of questions (104 questions).
Results: The results of each of the requirements (basic, functional, motivational) in four dimensions (access control, content, data retrieval, and visual effects) show that   half of the users' requests are in the basic requirements group which National Digital Library officials should pay more attention to and prioritize the redesign or development plan of the digital library. Also, the second priority was the requirements of the functional group. Paying attention to the requirements of this group causes satisfaction and dissatisfaction otherwise. Attention to meeting the motivational requirements of the third priority if met  could create a high level of satisfaction in the use of the National Digital Library.
Conclusion: If clienteles  satisfaction is of worth,    managers of the National Digital Library should design short-term and long-term programs according to the users real needs.

Abstract

Background and Aim: Searching for information is not always a targeted activity; it can also be done involuntarily. The serendipity has the ability to find information randomly and as something happy, something unexpected, or a pleasant surprise. This paper examines and analyzes the concept of serendipity and its models in the process of information searching.
Methods: The present study uses a library research method to study concept of serendipity and its models in the process of information searching.
Results: Serendipity is a term for a broad and multifaceted phenomenon. Widespread vague nature of serendipity has made it difficult to study and inspect, and has led to numerous explanations and clarifications from researchers. The serendipity (accidental information discovery) is different from the purposeful search of information, because it is more about dealing with information or accidentally discovering information. Unexpected (accidental), intelligent, and valuable or potentially valuable results of the requirements of a worthwhile experience.
Conclusion: Understanding serendipity as an integral part of information behavior can be effective in identifying strategies for retrieving information that leads to accidental information discovery.

Abstract

Purpose: Today's knowledge-based organizations use knowledge management softwares to accelerate and facilitate their knowledge management processes.But facilitating and accelerating these processes will not be possible, except with knowledge audit, which is the first step of knowledge management. So the purpose of this research is identifying the knowledge audit factors in the knowledge management softwares.
Methodology: This research is applied that done documentary and descriptive-survey method. The statistical population of this research includes 14 Knowledge Management Software’s. The data gathering method is direct observation and data gathering tool check list that made by the researcher. Data analysis was performed variance and mean analysis by SPSS software.
Findings: The findings showed that knowledge audit models emphasized on approaches: 1. Strategies 2. Knowledge management processes 3. Organizational strategies and Processes and 4. Knowledge resources. And factors such as the knowledge perspective, knowledge environment, knowledge health, knowledge gap and knowledge revising less studied in models. Also findings showed that the knowledge management software’s of Andocx, Abaneghan, Net, Pearankar, Laravel, Parnian, Bornapedia, Sepehr Mahan, Hamafaza, MTAshare, Nadine, and Knowledge management systems have good capabilities than the other knowledge management systems. But the factors of knowledge conversion, knowledge nutrition, scoring, sophisticated communities, and knowledge map in these software’s less used than the other factors. In addition, the most uses of knowledge audit factors belongs to the KM systems, and the lowest of it belongs to the NET software. And also, more knowledge management software’s emphasize on the processes of knowledge management and knowledge resources and topics of strategy and culture less used in them.
Conclusion: Results showed that using of knowledge audit factors in knowledge management software’s will be provide, better identify the needs, flows, inventories and knowledge maps, create, organize, share and use of the knowledge in the organizations.

Abstract

Background and Aim: Bearing in mind the importance of knowledge activities, the purpose of this study is to determine the status of knowledge activities in individual and organizational dimensions amongst academic and public librarians in Kermanshah province.    
Methods: Survey method is applied. Data  was collected by  Huang questionnaire, which was distributed among the 170 librarians selected as sample. Sample size was determined by Cochran's formula.   Data was analyzed by  descriptive and inferential statistics.
Results: Findings Showed that the highest average of knowledge activities in individual dimensions is correlated to the component of knowledge absorption and the lowest is related to knowledge diffusion and in organizational dimensions. Also,  the highest average is related to the component of knowledge integration and the lowest is tied in the component of knowledge breadth. There was no significant difference between public and academic librarians (except for knowledge barriers) in comparing the status of knowledge activities in individual and organizational dimensions. The average score of the studied librarians regarding the status of knowledge activities in organizational dimensions is significantly higher than knowledge activities in individual dimensions. The status of knowledge activities in individual and organizational dimensions in public and academic libraries is at a desirable level.
Conclusion: Due to the low average of knowledge obstacles and knowledge breadth in comparison with other components, it is urgent that library managers hold seminars and conferences and encourage the librarians to take part in those programs and help them share their ideas and thoughts. The managers should also organize educational programs with the help of experienced librarians that help the novice librarians in regard with knowledge acquisition, job responsibilities, educational resources and library databases.

Abstract

Background and aim: Analyzing the newly-emerged field of human-information interaction (HII) needs to study the field from diferent aspects and perspectives. Religious literature, including among others the Koran is one of main resources for doing so. This study aimed to extract and explain the guidelines and main points related to HII by deeply reflecting on Koranic verses and chapters that regard this notion.
Method: By applying Koranic scientific and topical interpretion approach and using a qualitative content analysis, the related guidelines and points were extracted from the Koran by using a comprehensive and popular 10-volumed Persian interpretion book, Tafsīr Nūr authored by an Iranian scholar, Muhsin Qarā‘tī.
Findings: 25 Koranic guidelines on HII were found from the Koran. In total, the Koran has direct and indirect guidelines on HII, including information search, evaluation, dissemination, use and verification, and approaches of sending-receiving and using information.
Conclusion: Considering the Koranic guidelines on HII and conducting further research on them can resolve many challenges of encountring information of any types in the information age

Abstract

Background and Aim: The object of the  study was to Analyze IFLA Library Reference Model (LRM) Entities and Attributes for Iranian Traditional Music Resources, Case Study: Morq-e Sahar Song.
Method: The  study inherits an applied content analysis method. All Entities and Attributes of  IFlA LRM Model based on  two checklists include:  Final report of IFlA LRM on August 2017 and Transition Mappings User Tasks, Entities, Attributes, and Relationships in FRBR, FRAD, and FRSAD mapped to their equivalents in the IFLA Library Reference Model Analyzed for Morq-e Sahar Song data elements. The research sample size involves Fifty different performances of Morq-e sahar Song.
Results: The results show that all the eleven Entities and the Thirty -Seven Attributes of IFLA-LRM except for Cartographic scale attribute parallels  in Morq-e sahar  song data elements.
Conclusion: As a first step,  the results of  the study  in identifying conveniences of this model for organizing traditional Iranian music resources, realizing IFlA LRM Model’s Entities and Attributes which is  appropriate in Iranian traditional music organization is operational.  The results are also practical for experts of Information organization and designers of Information retrieval system.

Abstract

Background and Aim: Information seeking behavior arises when one feels a void in his/her knowledge which inspires one to acquire new information. The central point in explaining behavior is the fact that many features influence its occurrence, and emotions are considered to be a major element involved in human information behavior.  Also, Information seeking is a positive and negative emotional experience. The aim was to survey the role of emotions in information behavior.
Method:  Library research method was applied to study theoretical foundations and conceptual relationships of emotions in relation to information needs and related concepts. 
Results: By conceptual studies of the models process of information retrieval behavior of Kuhlthau and Nahl, it was found that emotional factors are very important in information retrieval and information-seeking behavior, which is influenced by negative (uncertainty, fear, anger) and positive emotions (happy, confident, satisfied).  Negative emotions increase at the beginning and over time and in the process of searching for information, decreases, while positive emotions intensifies.  Also,  these results indicate that positive emotions may help individuals acquire information to resolve an existing problem, whereas negative emotions may aid individuals acquire information when there is no apparent problem.
Conclusion:   In order to solve information need and to attain appropriate   desirable feedback, it is necessary that emotions be well identified and understood by both the user and the information systems, so  they could be better controlled.

Abstract

Aim: Growing number social network  users for communicating between   groups   has made them a major  segment of people's social life. So, the purpose of this study is to identify the factors affecting the use of social networks and information-seeking behavior in daily life of the Kurds in virtual networks and effect of ethnic identity on the behavior of information-seeking in their daily life.
Methodology: Research is an applied and quantitatively exploratory in terms of data analysis.  Questionnaire  was used which its validity was obtained by Delphi method and its reliability based on the weights test model, was significant in all weights of the combined external model with 99% confidence. Population consisted of 70,696 people from different social classes of the Kurds of Kermanshah. The sample size based on Cochran's formula was 480 users who were members of one of the online public and specialized social  networks.
Systematic stratified random sampling was used in terms of percentage of jobs. Bartlett test, exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis was used to analyze the data.
Findings: Findings show that all identified factors have the ability to predict the   behavior of Kurds’ in information seeking in cyberspace: Leisure with standard coefficient of 0.82, cultural information with coefficient of 0.68, scientific information with coefficient of 0.56, economic information with coefficient of 0.75, social information with The coefficient of 0.74 and the consumption pattern with a coefficient of 0.52. Also, language with a coefficient of 0.30 and customs with a standard coefficient of 0.76 can predict the ethnic identity. In addition, virtual networks and ethnic identities with a coefficient of 0.54 are able to predict changes in the informational behavior of Kurds’ everyday life.
Conclusion: Leisure, cultural information, scientific information, economic information, social information, and consumption pattern were discovered and identified as factors influencing information seeking behavior in daily life, as well as language and customs were confirmed as factors of ethnic identity affecting the information-seeking behavior of the Kurds of Kermanshah.
