Abstract

Background and Aim: The purpose of the present study was to investigate the opinion of blind and visually impaired of the possibility of employing gadgets in delivering resources and information services to them.

Method: The research method was descriptive - survey and questionnaires were used to collect data. The data was analyzed by descriptive and inferential statistics.

Results: The result showed that respondent approved the use of information resources and services through variety of gadgets and the fact that gadgets are generally more desirable.  Based on the agreement in regard to the gadgets used as resources and information services to blind and visually impaired it was found that mobile phone and pocket PC were in  the first place (56.7%), Google glasses in second place(55%) e-book readers in third place (54.4%), tablets in fourth place (54.2%) and RFID systems in fifth place (44.1%).

Conclusion: Based on the findings of the study it is concluded that blinds ability to use gadgets in optimal utilization of resources and information services is possible and more than desirable.  As a results we can make proper use of the new technology in order to present resources and information services to blinds and visually impaired

Abstract

Background and Aim: Easing the probability of violation of intellectual property rights and unauthorized access of digital resources is one of the most important consequences of  information and communication technologies like Internet. The purpose of this research is to identify the state of Using Digital Right Management technology in IRANDOC ETD system.

Method: This research is an applied research and has done by case study research method. Data collection tool that is used in this research is a checklist that primarily prepared by NSA INFOSEC IAM.

Results: Findings of the research represented in three sections. Section one is related to needed information for security assessment of electronic theses and dissertation (ETD) system in IRANDOC. Data was collected by structured interview and observation. Section two covered data that collected by OICM matrix. In fact information categories in organization flowchart and value of each one in organization goals were identified. Section three is related to identify the threats and their effects that organization encountered with.

Conclusion: Results of the research demonstrate that, as a matter of security infrastructures, IRANDOC is located in an unfavorable condition. Consequently factors such as unauthorized access, forms of management, lack of prosecution and so on threaten their services. Therefore they eagerly need using techniques such as DRM for collecting, managing, maintenance and dissemination

Abstract

Background and Aim: Relative generality and precision are two important criteria for measuring the efficiency and performance of information retrieval systems. The aim of this study was to compare the integrity and location of evidence-based bases in the digital library of Hamedan University of Medical Sciences in data retrieval of diabetes.   
Methods: The design of this research is cross-sectional, survey, descriptive and is an applied type. Preparing a list on clinical questions here was done as referring to the Diabetes Center in Semirom for 5 months. The following keywords were searched on databases: Up To Date, Clinical Key, Embase, Cochrane, Ovid, and PubMed Tool. The data were analyzed using the descriptive and inferential statistics in terms of tables, diagrams, chi-square test.
Results: The findings showed that both Ovid and Clinical Key databases recovered more relevant documents in contrast to other databases Based on the most relevant documents. According to the relevant and relatively relevant documents, Clinical Key, Embase, Ovid and Up To Date databases had the highest recall in contrast to the PubMed and Cochrane databases which possessed the lowest recall. According to the most relevant documents, the Ovid Database has the highest precision while the PubMed Database had the lowest precision. Among the databases, up to date had retrieved the relevant documents.
Conclusion: Ovid possesses more recall and precision among the databases analyzed, but evidence-based resources are generally well-suited to clinical questions in the field of diabetes

Abstract

Background and Aim: The object of the  study was to Analyze IFLA Library Reference Model (LRM) Entities and Attributes for Iranian Traditional Music Resources, Case Study: Morq-e Sahar Song.
Method: The  study inherits an applied content analysis method. All Entities and Attributes of  IFlA LRM Model based on  two checklists include:  Final report of IFlA LRM on August 2017 and Transition Mappings User Tasks, Entities, Attributes, and Relationships in FRBR, FRAD, and FRSAD mapped to their equivalents in the IFLA Library Reference Model Analyzed for Morq-e Sahar Song data elements. The research sample size involves Fifty different performances of Morq-e sahar Song.
Results: The results show that all the eleven Entities and the Thirty -Seven Attributes of IFLA-LRM except for Cartographic scale attribute parallels  in Morq-e sahar  song data elements.
Conclusion: As a first step,  the results of  the study  in identifying conveniences of this model for organizing traditional Iranian music resources, realizing IFlA LRM Model’s Entities and Attributes which is  appropriate in Iranian traditional music organization is operational.  The results are also practical for experts of Information organization and designers of Information retrieval system.
