هدف از این پژوهش بررسی تفاوت بین بازیکنان بیس‌بال ماهر و مبتدی برای پیش‌بینی نوع توپ پیچ (پرتاب) شده و تعیین وابستگی بازیکنان به نشانه‌های فضایی سینماتیکی توزیع‌شده یا موضعی بود. با استفاده از روش انسداد فضایی، از بازیکنان بیس‌بال (تعداد = ۱۵، میانگین سن: 27.73 ± 6.28 سال؛ تجربه بیس‌بال: 7.90 ± 5.69 سال) و مبتدی‌ها (تعداد = ۱۵، میانگین سن: 23.10 ± 5.68 سال؛ بدون تجربه بیس‌بال)، همگی مذکر، درخواست شد نوع پیچ (فست‌بال و کروبال) را پیش‌بینی کنند. هر دو گروه شبیه‌سازی‌هایی ضبط و دستکاری‌شده از اجرای پیچ‌ را مشاهده کردند که در آن‌ها نه قسمت خاص از بدن پیچر یا توپ حذف یا به‌طور جداگانه نشان داده شده بود. داده‌ها با استفاده از یک طرح تحلیل واریانس آمیخته 2 (سطح مهارت) × 9 (شرایط نمایش) بررسی آماری شد. طبق نتایج، در کل، بازیکنان ماهر بیس‌بال در شرایط انسداد عملکرد بهتری نسبت به مبتدی‌ها داشتند. افزون‌براین، نتایج نشان داد که بازیکنان بیس‌بال برای پیش‌بینی‌های درست خود از نشانه‌های سینماتیکی دست و توپ و نیز بالاتنه استفاده کردند. نتایج همسو با یافته‌های قبلی در زمینه خبرگی ادراکی‌شناختی و تصمیم‌گیری در ورزش‌های تعاملی است و نشان می‌دهد بازیکنان ماهر بیس‌بال به‌جای اتکا بر نشانه‌های سینماتیکی مجزا یا موضعی، قادرند از اطلاعاتی که در کل سطح بدن پیچر توزیع‌شده استفاده نمایند.
