شناخت چگونگی فعالیت‌بدنی دختران 7-12 ساله ایرانی در وضع موجود و طراحی مدل برای آن از الزامات تفکر استراتژیک است و می‌تواند در اتخاذ تصمیمات مهم به مدیران مربوطه کمک کند. از همین رو هدف این تحقیق طراحی مدل‌مفهومی فعالیت‌‌بدنی دختران 7-12 ساله ایرانی بود. روش تحقیق نظریه‌داده‌بنیاد، رویکرد نظام‌مند بود. نمونه‌گیری از نوع نمونه‌گیری نظری بود و تا رسیدن به اشباع نظری؛ ضمن بررسی متون تخصصی؛ با 6 پدر، 17 مادر و 17 دختربچه مصاحبه‌های نیمه ساختار یافته انجام شد. یافته‌ها نشان‌داد 14 مقوله اصلی در رابطه با فعالیت‌بدنی دختران 7-12 ساله ایرانی وجود دارد. کنشگر اصلی در مدل طراحی شده، مادر است که شرایط و وضعیت را بررسی و با مشورت با همسرش، دخترش و مربی در نقش هدایتگر اصلی دختربچه ایفای نقش می‌کند. یافته‌ها همچنین نشان داد نهادهای‌حاکمیتی، وزارت ‌آموزش ‌و پرورش و مدارس؛ بر خلاف انتظار؛ تاثیر مطلوبی در فعالیت‌‌بدنی دختران 7-12 ساله ایرانی ندارند. بنابراین؛ فعال‌سازی و تعامل سازنده بین مادران، سازمان‌ها و نهادهای مرتبط؛ مخصوصاً مدارس؛ و استفاده بهینه از امکانات ورزشی موجود کشور می‌تواند به طور چشمگیری فعالیت‌های‌بدنی بین دختران 7-12 ساله را افزایش دهد.
