زمینه و هدف: کنترل و مدیریت نوروپاتی یک هدف در تمرینات درمانی است که برای بیماران مبتلا به نوروپاتی محیطی دیابتی نوع دو تجویز می¬شود. ما تاثیر 12 هفته تمرین جامع بر شاخص¬های کنترل قند خون و حس محیطی بیماران نوروپاتی دیابتی را مطالعه کردیم. روش اجرا: با معیار نمره پرسشنامه میشیگان، 40 بیمار بطور تصادفی جفت شده در گروه¬های تمرینی رایج و جامع قرار گرفتند. آزمون¬ها پیش و پس از سه ماه تمرین به مدت 3 جلسه در هفته با زمان 60 دقیقه در هفته ی اول آغاز و به مرور با افزایش مدت و حجم تمرین به 90 دقیقه در جلسه پایانی انجام شد  . یافته ها:آزمون آنوا برای داده های تکراری نشان داد قند خون ناشتا دو گروه فاقد تعامل معنادار   (26/0 P=)، ولی قند خون دو ساعت پس از ناشتا  ، قند خون غروب، هموگلوبین گلیکوزیله ، دیاپازون ، منوفیلامان ، و ترموفیل دارای تعامل معنادار به نفع گروه تمرین جامع بود (05/0P<). نتیجه گیری: در آغاز تمرینات جامع، از ماساژ و فوم غلتان برای کاهش درد و بهبود خونرسانی و حس مناطق نوروپاتیک استفاده شد. این احتمالا موجب شده که آنها تمرینات هوازی و مقاومتی را نیز راحت¬تر انجام دهند و بنابراین کنترل گلیسمی و حسی بهتری حاصل شد. بررسی آثار بلند مدت این راهبرد تمرینی نیاز به مطالعه بیشتر دارد.
