Abstract

The purpose of this study was determining validity and reliability of the Athlete Fear Avoidance Questionnaire (AFAQ). For this purpose, 120 atheltes with different levels of skills in different fields, were chosen and completed the the AFAQ, the Kinesiophobia Questionnaire, and the Pain Catastrophizing Scale and the Sport Injury Appraisal Scale. AFAQ was confirmed by using translation-back translation method and face validity and translation accuracy. Cronbach's alpha index, exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, Pearson correlation coefficient and intraclass correlation coefficient were used to check construct validity, internal consistency and temporal reliability. The results showed that the one-factor model of the athletes' fear-avoidance questionnaire had a poor fit, for this reason, after conducting the exploratory factor analysis and identifying three factors in these questionnaires, the confirmatory factor analysis model also fitted the data well with this the three-factor model. So that the CFI index was 0. 96 and the TLI index was 0. 94 as well as the RMSE index of 0. 05 and the chi-square ratio to the degree of freedom(X2/DF) was 1. 39. The internal consistency of the questionnaire was also confirmed. Based on this, the Persian version of the AFAQ has 3 factors and includes 10 questions and three catastrophic constructs (items 1, 5, 8), fear of movement (4, 6, 7) and fear-avoidance beliefs (items 2, 3, 9, 10) was confirmed in the community of Iranian athletes.

Abstract

Introduction: Scapular asymmetry is considered as a significant abnormality in the resting position of the scapula. The present study aims to evaluate the stability, functional quality, and performance of the shoulder girdle among CrossFit athletes with and without scapular asymmetry.
Methods: Totally, 60 male CrossFit athletes aged between 20-30 years old with over one year of experience in CrossFit training were invited to participate in the study. Then, the participants were divided into two groups including the asymmetry (N=16) and normal shoulder status (N=22). In the next step, the statistical analysis was performed using the Shapiro-Wilk and Mann-Whitney U tests (p<0/05). Finally, the Nordic and DASH (disability of arm, shoulder, and hand) questionnaires, as well as the Davies CKCUES (close kinetic chain upper extremity stability) test, LSST (lateral scapular slide test), and YBT (Y Balance test) were administered.
Results: The Shapiro-Wilk test indicated a non-normal distribution of the data (p<0.000). Additionally, no significant difference was observed by the Mann-Whitney U test.
Conclusion: Based on the results, no significant difference was reported in sports performance quality, activity levels, or pain compared to the control group, despite the presence of asymmetry, representing that participation in CrossFit may mitigate the adverse effects related to scapular asymmetry.

Abstract

One of the most important success factors in most athletic competitions, receiving aerobic power (speed,
agility and jumping) high. Basketball is a great combination of short and long term activities that depend on
aerobic fitness. Anaerobic fitness of many players during the match determines tactical the performance.
The purpose of the present study to investigate the effects of strength exercises on anaerobic power and
some the variables related Traband it. The subjects consisted of 30 basketball players Young, randomly into
two equal groups of 15 subjects (experimental and control) were randomly assigned to 6 weeks and 3
sessions the Exercises were done in a week. To analyze the data, independent samples T-test and paired
sample T-test used at a significance level p ≤ 0/05. Later for six weeks of exercises, significant differences
between the records obtained from the anaerobic power the variables (speed, agility, vertical jump) were
observed between the two groups. The present study showed that the strength exercises with the variables
Traband improve anaerobic power in young basketball players and And according to the results of seem to
exercises Traband useful method for improving performance of the anaerobic the athletes.

Abstract

Proprioception is essential for joint function and through which individual can detect body parts movement in space. Aim of present study is to investigate effect of balance training on unstable platform with tilting, translation and combined motion on knee joint position sense in active young males. 39 healthy active male divided in to three training and control (n=9) groups. Training on unstable platform with tilting motion group (n=10), Training on unstable platform with translating motion group (n=10) and combined training group (n=10) performed exercises program for 8 weeks, three times a week. Errors in repositioning of knee joint in 30, 45 and 60⁰ angles (active and passive) was measured by Biodex system 3, before and after training period. Data was analysed by using one-way ANOVA test (P≤0/05). Although after 8 weeks, active and passive errors in repositioning of knee joint in mentioned angles decreased in training groups but this difference was not significant (P≤0/05). Balance training on unstable platform alone cannot have a big effect on knee joint position sense in active young male.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to compare the prevalence of injuries in the Iranian Football Premier League players before and after the outbreak of Coronavirus (COVID-19) through video analysis in the 2019-2020 season. The types of sports injuries were divided into acute and chronic categories based on the mechanism, and the injuries were analyzed by reviewing 143 videos from 239 matches. Prevalence, time of onset and affected area were recorded in a special sheet. According to the results, 219 injuries occurred before the outbreak of coronavirus and 276 injuries occurred after the outbreak of coronavirus. In the period before and after the outbreak of Corona virus, the lower limbs of the players (58/7%) were damaged more than other parts of their bodies. Also, the highest rate of injury occurred after the outbreak of coronavirus than before in the last minutes of the game (24/3%). Research Findings showed that the prevalence of injuries in Iranian Premier League football players in the post-outbreak period of Coronavirus increased due to home quarantine and closure of matches.

Abstract

Introduction and aim: Physical activity and especially the motor proficiency of children have been studied from different aspects. The purpose of the present study was to determine the correlation among Functional Movement Screening scores with motor proficiency and physical activity levels of children aged 10 to 13 (Mean=11.72, SD=0.932) in Tehran province. Methods: In this descriptive study of correlation, all the children of primary schools in Tehran province were considered as the study population, from which 94 girls were selected by cluster random method. Their motor proficiency, physical activity levels, and functional movement were evaluated with Bruininks Oseretsky test-Short Form (BOT-2), International Physical Activity Questionnaire- Short Form (IPAQ-SF), and Functional Movement Screening test (FMS) respectively. Findings: The results of the Pearson correlation coefficient test showed that there is a significant relationship between the scores of the children's functional movement screening test and their BOT-2 total score (P=0.000), but the correlation between the total score of the functional movement screening test and the total score of the physical activity levels was not significant (P=0.267). Conclusion: In general, due to the existence of a significant relationship between functional movement and motor proficiency, the next step is to use early interventions and study their effect on improving children's performance and motor proficiency.

Abstract

vitamin D deficiency is associated with many cardiovascular disorders. Arterial stiffness responses also depend on nutritional and exercise. Therefore, the study aimed to investigate the relationship between arterial stiffness response after glucose uptake and exercise with baseline levels of vitamin D in inactive men and women.
The present study was an analysis correlation study, and the subjects were 88 inactive men and women with an age range of 20 to 45 years. Vitamin D, body composition, and arterial stiffness, were measured. Subjects then ran for 30 minutes at 65% of maximum heart rate. Also, 75g of glucose was given to the subjects after 30 minutes of activity, 60 minutes after the of glucose consumption and arterial stiffness was measured. Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation test and analysis of variance with repeated measures at a significant level (P≤0.05).there was a negative and significant relationship between baseline levels of vitamin D and changes in CAVI in women (p=0.001 and r=-0.559) and in men a positive and significant relationship (p=0.005 and r=0.413).It seems that basal levels of vitamin D can be effective in the vascular response; due to little research, more research is need.

Abstract

Circadian rhythms play a crucial role in regulating various physiological functions of the human body and can impact the ability tasks. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of time of day on static and dynamic balance using the cognitive task approach. We recruited 24 elderly men who performed both static and dynamic balance tests with and without cognitive dual tasks. Our statistical analysis, using a significance level of 0.05, revealed significant differences in the parameters of the 95% confidence ellipse, length of path, and average velocity of the center of pressure when performing the dual task compared to normal walking. However, these variables did not significantly differ at different times of the day. Interestingly, our results showed that the center of pressure fluctuations in closed eyes and different times of the day did not have a significant difference. Overall, our findings suggest that healthy elderly individuals are at similar risk of falling during different hours of the day. Nonetheless, the simultaneous execution of dual cognitive tasks leads to balance disruption in both eyes-arm closed positions.

Abstract

This study focuses on the design, construction, and validation of a digital-adjustable, weight-free home fitness device for muscle training. The research adopted a mixed-methods approach, providing a comprehensive evaluation of the device's performance. Initially, existing equipment and resistance training methods were analyzed, gathering essential information for the preliminary design. Three-dimensional models and prototypes were developed using software such as Rhino Cross 6 and AutoCAD 2018. For validation, the device’s resistance was tested with a digital dynamometer in eight different settings, yielding a high validity with a correlation coefficient of 0.9. The reliability of the device was also assessed across three exercises (seated leg extension, seated chest press, and seated biceps curl) with 10 kg weights, repeated five times, resulting in a reliability coefficient of 0.8. These results indicate the device's high accuracy and consistent resistance. With precise digital adjustments and the capability for varied strength exercises, this device enables users to conduct effective, high-quality workouts at home, contributing to muscle strengthening and improved fitness.

Abstract

It seems that aerobic exercise in water is more effective in promoting motor fitness factors due to its greater resistance force compared to the dry environment. Accordingly, the aim of this study was to compare the effect of aerobic exercise in water and land on the physical fitness of inactive girls.
Thirty non-athletic girls were randomly divided into two groups water and Land (n=15), and performed aerobic activity for six weeks (3 sessions/week) with 60-70% of maximum heart rate. Before and after aerobic activity, was calculated their explosive power using the vertical jump (Sargent), agility (4×9test), reaction (reaction time test), and the balance (static balance test). For compare pre- and post-test, and to compare post-test results in water and land, One-way ANOVA (p≤0.05).
After aerobic activity (water and land) compared to before, significant improvement was found in the values of explosive power (p=0.001), agility (p=0.001) and static balance (p=0.003), while the comparison of training in water and land did not show a significant difference (p>0.05).
It seems that aerobic activity (water and land) can affect explosive power, agility and static balance, but no effect on reaction, also there is no difference between the two environments.
