Abstract

The purpose of this study was determining validity and reliability of the Athlete Fear Avoidance Questionnaire (AFAQ). For this purpose, 120 atheltes with different levels of skills in different fields, were chosen and completed the the AFAQ, the Kinesiophobia Questionnaire, and the Pain Catastrophizing Scale and the Sport Injury Appraisal Scale. AFAQ was confirmed by using translation-back translation method and face validity and translation accuracy. Cronbach's alpha index, exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, Pearson correlation coefficient and intraclass correlation coefficient were used to check construct validity, internal consistency and temporal reliability. The results showed that the one-factor model of the athletes' fear-avoidance questionnaire had a poor fit, for this reason, after conducting the exploratory factor analysis and identifying three factors in these questionnaires, the confirmatory factor analysis model also fitted the data well with this the three-factor model. So that the CFI index was 0. 96 and the TLI index was 0. 94 as well as the RMSE index of 0. 05 and the chi-square ratio to the degree of freedom(X2/DF) was 1. 39. The internal consistency of the questionnaire was also confirmed. Based on this, the Persian version of the AFAQ has 3 factors and includes 10 questions and three catastrophic constructs (items 1, 5, 8), fear of movement (4, 6, 7) and fear-avoidance beliefs (items 2, 3, 9, 10) was confirmed in the community of Iranian athletes.

Abstract

This study aim to investigate the effect of different slops on mechanical lumbosacral angles and lumbar stability of healthy and mechanical low back pain (LBP) persons. This case- control study was performed on 38 females (18 LBP and 20 healthy subjects) who were referred to the Hospital in sari. At the beginning, Subjects’demographic data were recorded. In order to measure lumbosacral angles and  lumbar spine stability evaluation, three lateral radiography plots in state of standing on various slope (ο, +3.7, -3.7) were prepared. There were no significant differences between the biomechanical lumbosacral angles by standing on the various slopes, within and between 2 groups (LBP and healthy females) (p≥0.05).There was more lumbar instability in females with LBP and lumbar mechanical stability was significantly difference between 2 groups in each slope (P +=0.023, P –=0.009, P 0=0.004). Although, lumbar stability was not significantly different within each LBP and healthy groups, on the various slopes (p≥0.05). It seems that lumbar instability may increases in mechanical LBP, that won’t manage by various levels of slop.

Abstract

Chronic low back pain is one of the most common musculoskeletal problems. This disease, in addition to causing pain and disability affects the gait parameters in patients. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of aquatic exercises therapy on the severity of pain, disability and Spatiotemporal parameters and kinetic of gait in women with chronic low back pain. Twenty-four women with chronic low back pain (with a mean age of 26.6 years) participated in this study. The exercise protocol was conducted in water for 8 weeks. The severity of pain and disability were measured by Quebec and Oswestry questionnaires respectively. gait parameters were evaluated using a foot pressure device. Aquatic exercises therapy significantly decreased pain and disability severity and significantly improved gait parameters in the experimental group (p≤0.05). Fore there more, the significant difference between the variables in the post-test was obtained between experimental and control groups (p≤0.05). No significant difference was observed between the pre-test and post-test comparisons in the control group (p≥0.05). Regarding the reduction of pain and disability and improvement of gait parameters after eight weeks’ intervention in experimental group, the use of this protocol is recommended to improve patients with chronic low back pain as a new method.

Abstract

Although hip muscle strengthening has been reported as an effective way to decrease PFPS symptoms, however its effect on lower extremity kinematics is less clear. The current study was done with the aim of investigating the effect of hip abductor and external rotator muscles strengthening exercises on lower extremity kinematics in static and dynamic states. In a randomized controlled trial, 33 patients with patellofemoral pain (PFP) were randomly assigned into exercise (8 female, 30±6.8 y/o, 23.8±2.6 BMI and 8 male, 31.2±7 y/o, 25.6±1.5 BMI) and control (9 female, 29.9±7.3 y/o, 23.2±3.2 BMI and 8 male, 32±6 y/o, 25.5±1.9 BMI) groups. In exercise group they received hip abductor and external rotator strengthening exercises by thera-band 3 times per week for 12 weeks under supervision by a physiotherapist. The control group did not receive any training intervention. Hip muscles strength and kinematics in static and dynamic states, were assessed at baseline and post-intervention. Repeated measures ANOVA by using SPSS were applied to assess the effects of the exercise on measured variables (α=0/05). After 12 weeks of strengthening program, by an increase in abductor muscle strength in women from 19.6 to 26.4 %BW (P=0.000) and in men from 29.9 to 38.1 %BW (P=0.003), and in hip external rotator muscles in women from 13.2 to 16.9 %BW (P=0.024) and in men from 26.3 to 34.9 %BW (P=0.000), dynamic knee valgus angle during single-legged squat improved in women from 170 to 174.6 degrees (P=0.018) and in men from 171.8 to 176.8 degrees (P=0.017) and contralateral pelvic drop angle during stair descending improved only in women from 7.9 to 6 degrees (P=0.04) in the exercise group. No significant difference was observed at quadriceps angle (P≥0.05). The findings suggest that hip muscles strengthening can alter the lower extremity kinematics, in dynamic state, at the frontal plane, and it might be said that due to these changes following hip abductor and external rotator muscles strengthening exercises by thera-band, the symptoms of PFP improve more consistent.

Abstract

Considering the prevalence of pain and disability in the knee joint, the present study investigated the effect of core stability training with improving knee joint proprioception on balance, pain and functional disability of women with chronic knee pain. 20 women aged 30 to 50 with chronic knee pain were placed in two experimental and control groups. To measure static and dynamic balance, pain and functional disability, the stork balance tests, Y, VAS and VOMACK questionnaire were used, respectively. Exercises were followed for eight weeks in the experimental group. To evaluate the research hypotheses, the analysis of variance test with repeated measurements was used in spss software version 24. The results showed that before the exercise protocol, there was no significant difference between the control and experimental groups in any of the measured variables. While the eight-week training protocol caused a significant difference in static and dynamic balance, functional disability and pain between the control and experimental groups. Therefore, core stability training with improving knee joint proprioception increase balance in people with chronic knee pain, which can reduce the risk of falling in these people and improve the quality of life by improving pain and functional disability.

Abstract

The researchers conducted the present study with the aim of investigating the pain and muscle disorders of patients with covid-19 with people who have experienced it. The research was applied and comparative. Samples were calculated using G-power of 303 people, and sports teachers were excluded from the research. The Nordic questionnaire was provided to Ardabil education and training employees after the investigation, the number of people with one year of identification and the number of 113 people with the age range of 30 to 45 years reported no reduction. Then, musculoskeletal disorders of 9 body areas in both groups were evaluated using descriptive statistics and chi-square test at a significance level of 0.01. The muscle pain of the affected group was significantly (P<0.01) higher than that of the healthy group, and also based on the chi-square test, the amount of back and neck pain was 52% and 45%, respectively, in affected people compared to other organs. It was more meaningful. (P<0.01) noticed that there was no significant difference between the pain and discomfort of different organs in the non-observed group. Corona patients may experience pain, and the cause of it in the Nordic questionnaire, in addition to physical abnormalities and excessive muscle disease, can be from Corona disease; Therefore, the Nordic questionnaire should be used.

Abstract

Background and aim: The purpose of this study is to examine how eight weeks of general exercises (GEs) combined with cognitive functional therapy (CFT) affect women with chronic non-specific low back pain (CNSLBP) in terms of pain, quality of life (QoL), and muscle endurance.
Methods: 45 women with CNSLBP participated in this study for eight weeks in three groups: GEs, GEs with CFT, and control. Pain, QoL and muscle endurance were evaluated by visual analogue scale (VAS), SF-36 questionnaire, and Biering-Sorensen test, respectively. Mixed-model repeated measure test with repeated measurement design was used for data analysis.
Results: The results revealed a significant difference in the investigated variables between the pre-test and post-test for the intervention groups, but no difference was seen in the control group.
Discussion and final conclusion: The group of GEs combined with CFT distinguished itself significantly from the group of GEs in the comparison of the factors of physical performance, emotional health, and general health from sub-sections of QoL, and also muscular endurance. According to the results, it is recommended that women with CNSLBP use GEs in combination with CFT to reduce pain, improve QoL, and increase muscle endurance.
