Abstract

In this research, the antimicrobial effects of ethanolic, methanolic and aqueous extracts obtained from aerial parts, leaves and bulbs of six species of Fessia were investigated on the growth of some of micro-organisms, including Staphyloccocus aureus, Bacillus anthracis, Kelebsiella pneumonia and Candida albicans. Plant samples were collected from natural habitats and were then identified. The evaluation diameter of inhibitory zone, well and MIC (minimum inhibitory concentration) methods were used for the assessment. Aqueous and methanolic extracts obtained from the leaves and bulbs did not affect any of the studied micro-organisms. The results showed that ethanolic extract of the species Fessia khorassanica, had stronger inhibitory effect on the Candida albicans in comparison with the control group.

Abstract

Biological anthropology, as a branch of anthropology, studies the evidence of evolution, diversity, biological and cultural adaptation that has made us the modern humans we are. The centrality of "human" evolution in anthropology has led to the formation of interdisciplinary, methodological, and conceptual links with other sciences. Apart from the lack of access to topics such as primatology in Iran due to the lack of cultural, geographical, and research context, the study of genetic and physical characteristics of contemporary ethno-cultural and demographic groups, biological evolution, and environmental adaptation have constituted the majority of studies in this field. The lack of sufficient studies on the approaches and goals of biological anthropology and the failure to address the capacities of this science in recent years have led to its conceptual framework being less well known in Iran. Therefore, the present study, while showing the importance of interdisciplinary scientific communities, has attempted to assessment the approaches of biological anthropology in Iran by reviewing 92 articles from related research whose research was conducted in Iran. The selected articles claimed to be conducting anthropological research in terms of title, subject, method, and approach. The present study
