Abstract

The objective of the current research is to compare the function of declarative memory among war veterans who are suffering from PTSD ,war veterans who are not suffering from PTSD and normal people without any war experience the research has also aimed at studying and comparing the influence of the modifying role of meta cognition on the function of declarative memory among the three groups of the study.60 people have been selected and placed in three groups: 20 war veterans suffering from PTSD , chosen by PTSD scales 20 veterans not suffering from PTSD and 20 normal people without any war experience. All three groups were evaluated by WatsonPTSD questionnaires, declarative memory memory interview and delayed recall story) and meta cognition questionnaire .The research hypotheses were tested by multivariate analysis of covariance (MANCOVA). The result have indicated that the function of declarative memory in the three groups without the control of meta cognition moderator is significant , in another word the declarative memory function in war veterans suffering from PTSD is different with the two other groups. It can be also deduced from the results of the research that the declarative memory function by the control of meta cognition modifying  role was not significant this time which indicates the modifying role of meta cognition in decreasing the declarative memory function in war veterans suffering from PTSD in comparison with the two other mentioned groups.

Abstract

fatigueis anunpleasant mental feelingthat has also been shown to decrease physical and Mental performance. Fatigue is a very common complaint and it is important to Healthcare Experts.The aim of this study was to investigate the role of meta-cognition in predicting feeling of fatigue based on Brown’s model. In this study, 400 undergraduate students of Tabriz University were selected by multi-stage cluster sampling. The participants filled Fatigue Impact Scale (FIS) and short form of Wells meta-cognition scale (MCQ-30). Analyzing data was performed via multiple regression analysis by SPSS18 software. Research findings revealed that meta-cognition predicted cognitive, physical, social and total fatigue, significantly. It predicted 33%-42% of variance of fatigue dimensions and total fatigue. On the basis of results, focusing on the role of meta-cognition could be the important part of therapeutic interventions for the people with chronic fatigue syndrome.

Abstract

The relationship between class management with learning achievement had been attended by different researchers, but the psychological mediators can added the best obvious of this relationship. In the present research, the role of metacognitive knowledge and class management of teachers in predicting of English achievement have been conducted. 221 English teacher-student completed 3 sub-scales of class management (abdollahi, et.al., 2014) and metacognitive believes (vels et.al.,2004). English grade point average of three classes of teachers has been the criterion of English achievement of their students. The results of stepwisel regression analysis showed the class management variables enter in the equation in the first steps. 52 percent of variance of English achievement predicts by 3 component of class management. In the last stage 1 percent of variance of English achievement added to the total of variance. This results show that although the most important of English achievement can predict by class management variables, but the metacognition believes of teachers can increase this prediction.

Abstract

This study aim to compare the cognitively biased information processing in anxiety, depression and was normal people. The study was causal-comparative study of 50 subjects anxious subjects, 50 subjects with depression and 50 normal subjects were formed by students of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences were selected using data Bvdnd.grdavry anxiety scales and Beck Depression scale psychological symptoms and clinical interviews, tests, and test complete root words were a reminder properties and data were analyzed using multivariate analysis of variance. The results showed that explicit and implicit memory between the three groups, anxious, depressed and normal in terms of positive, negative, and there was a significant threat, while threatening words of anxious, depressed subjects with negative words and positive words of ordinary scores were higher. But there was no significant difference in terms of neutrality between the three groups. It can be concluded that information processing in explicit and implicit memory bias creates and causes the information to be more consistent with the mood.

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the psychometric properties flow metacognitions questionnaire (FMQ) on the student population took place. For this purpose, 390 students of Urmia University were selected by multi-stage cluster sampling, then flow metacognitions questionnaire (FMQ), Positive Metacognitions and Meta-Emotions Questionnaire and Meta-Cognitions Questionnaire were distributed among them to respond. After collecting data to determine the psychometric properties of the flow metacognitions questionnaire (FMQ), initially validity of the Questionnaire was assessed by Cronbach's alpha, retest and splitting coefficient, the criterion validity with Positive Metacognitions and Meta-Emotions Questionnaire and Meta-Cognitions Questionnaire. As well as its factor structure was assessed by using confirmatory factor analysis. The results of the factor analysis indicated that the flow metacognitions questionnaire (FMQ) has two factors, check the validity of the questionnaire using Cronbach's alpha, retest and splitting coefficient reflects the stability of the scale, the criterion validity of the questionnaire with other questionnaires Showed desirable discriminant and convergence validity. Overall, the findings indicated that flow metacognitions questionnaire (FMQ), has good psychometric properties in sample of student and normal population, and tool can be used in studies in the Iranian culture.

Abstract

Abstract

The main purpose of this study was to investigate causal relationship between cognitive emotion regulation, metacognition and test anxiety were evaluated in students according to the self-regulatory executive function model of wells and Matthews (1999). Data was analyzed through correlation, structural equation modeling. In this study 1000 students at second and third grade of public, governmental and gifted school were participated from October to November 2015 by cluster random sampling method. The participants completed cognitive emotion regulation inventory (Garnefski et al, 2001), test anxiety inventory (Abolghasemi: et al, 1995) and metacognition questionnaire (Cartwright-Hatton and Wells, 2004). Result of this study showed positive and negative cognitive emotion regulation had a mediating role in the relationship between Meta cognition and test anxiety in student. Metacognition had a direct and indirect effect on test anxiety by mediating role of positive and negative cognitive emotion regulation but negative cognitive emotion regulation had a more effect than positive cognitive emotion regulation in mediating role between meta cognition and test anxiety. To the result, focusing on the cognitive emotion regulation strategies can play on important role in student test anxiety. More interventions based on metacognition and negative cognitive emotion regulation in treatment for pathological test anxiety are suggested.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of metacognitive strategies and observation of skilled model on learning of soccer chip task. The present study was carried out by means of semi-experimental research design. Forty two students, aged 11-13 years old, in region 2th of Tehran, participated in this study. They were divided in 3 groups (control group, observation of skilled model, and observation of skilled model with metacognitive activities). Metacognition group had to complete a semi-structured written interview that prompting them to activate their high-order thinking, before and then of acquisition blocks. An experimental intervention study in of soccer chip shot was conducted with pre-, post-, retention and transfer tests. Repeated measures analysis showed that there were statistically significant differences between groups. The result revealed that metacognitive strategies prompting had significant influence on students’ performance.

Abstract

The present study tried to investigate the effect of cognitive exhaustion on student’s cognitive flexibility with the mediating role of need for cognition among BA student of Farhangian University of arak in academic year 2015/16. In order to collect data, Cacioppo & Petty (1984) need for cognition questionnaire, diagnostic tasks which are similar to diagnostic tasks of Sedek & Kofta (1990), shahgholian, et al Wisconsin Card Sorting Task software (version), were applied. According to need for cognition questionnaire, 60 female students were selected out of a group of 150 and randomly assigned to four groups of 15. The experiment consisted of second phases. In the first phase, the participants were exposed to diagnostic problems and then in the second phase, they took the cognitive flexibility test, in order to drawing a comparison between the groups. The research data were analyzed by one-way ANCOVA. The results showed that cognitive exhaustion has a significant negative effect on cognitive flexibility and the interactive role of need for cognition was confirmed regarding to research variables. The finding of the present study give serious consideration to the central role of cognitive exhaustion and need for cognition in people’s amount of flexibility.

Abstract

Researchers emphasise the effect of metacognition on learning and teaching. The purpose of this article was to investigate the metacognitive knowledge and skills of physics students at Farhangian University in mechanic's problem solving. This qualitative study is an interpretive phenomenology and the methods of think-aloud protocols, interviewing and observation in natural conditions have been used to collect data and evaluate the metacognitive knowledge and skills of students and instructors at Farhangian University. The sample of the current study were forty two girls in the first semester, who studied physics at the Nasibeh Campus of Farhangian University in Tehran. Metacognitive evaluations were also performed to solve problems in mechanics in the kinematic field. In this study, the samples included students who had successfully passed the university entrance exam in the previous six months. In addition, one day before the start of the research, they participated in the university's basic physics exam, therefore, they had the necessary preparation and knowledge to solve the problems. The study was conducted in three stages. In the first stage, two to three problems were solved by the students with the think-aloud protocols. To familiarize students with the think-aloud protocols, they practiced this method with the help of a researcher. In the second stage, the researcher interviewed six students who were more interested and cooperative. In the third stage, the behavior of all forty-two students was observed and recorded during the academic semester, while solving problems under normal conditions. The results showed that most of the students surveyed had moderate metacognitive knowledge and very poor metacognitive skills

Abstract

Emotion Recognition is the main component of social cognition. The failure in emotion recognition can jeopardize the survival of the human in the environment. Emotion recognition has various pattern in different cultures and nationalities. Some of the emotions would recognize as strong or weak. Also, there is diversity in emotion recognition pattern in some psychological disorders and neurological damages. Finding the Iranian emotion recognition pattern with a valid neuro-psychological test is the main purpose of this study. This is a descriptive-analytical study. Participants with the age of 24 to 40 years were initially tested in computer intelligence and progressive matrices of Raven-2 Then, for 88 subjects who had obtained a normal score in the RAVEN-2 test, the excitement recognition subtest was taken from the Cambridge Neuro-Psychological test automated battery (CANTAB). The correct response of participants to each of the six emotions used for analysis. The average percentage of correct responses to each of the six emotions has been analysis by SPSS statistical software. The normal distribution and spherical condition exist among the accumulated data. The maximum rate of correct responses was 75.83% related to happy emotion, sad 70.00%, Surprise 68.48%, disgust 47.84%, angry 42.54%, and fear 38.26%. Iranians recognized happy emotions better than the other emotions and fear was the lees recognized emotion. The finding of this study can affect the evaluation of cognitive elements in the particular society like Iran and can identify the most cognitive abilities and inabilities in people. The result of this research deduces striking findings that can lead the evaluation of cognitive, social people of Iran.

Abstract

Mental representations are to be considered as the most advanced aspects of human cognition and in addition to their own physical representations, representations of social cognition of others can also affect the mental experience of each person's ownership of their body. Accordingly, the present research as a quasi-experimental study based on repeated measures, was conducted in order to investigate the effect of social cognitive representation on the mental property of the body. The population of the study consisted of all Students of Payame Noor University of Tehran from which 61 females and 47 males were selected by convenience sampling. The research instruments included Cohen and Botvinick's (1998) Rubber Hand Illusion Test, and Longo, et al.'s (2008) Rubber Hand Ownership Experience Mental Report Questionnaire. Induction of representations of social cognition was based on the three-dimensional mental model of social cognition by Tamir and Thornton (2020). The collected data were analyzed by repeated measures analysis of variance using SPSS-22 software. According to the findings, the error score of the rubber hand was higher than the rubber hand with the color close to the body and green, which was defined in terms of the factors of the levels of the three-dimensional model of social cognition at the extreme level, and lower than the blue rubber hand, which was at extremely low levels of the mental three-dimensional model. The results indicated that in social relations, the identification of individuals with those who have gained a higher social status in mental evaluations can be more than those who have gained a lower social status in mental representations.

Abstract

Mental representations are one of the most advanced aspects of human cognition and can affect the mental experience of ownership of each person's body. Based on this, the present study, which is a two-stage mixed research, after inducing three levels of social-cognitive factors (equivalent to the individual, higher level, lower level), explained and predicted the mental ownership of the body. Is. The statistical population of the research included the students of Payam Noor University in Tehran, from which 61 women and 47 men were selected by convenience sampling. The research tools included the artificial hand error test of Cohen and Botvinik (1998), the subjective report questionnaire of the experience of owning an artificial hand by Longo et al. (2008) and the 12-block computer program of Tamir and Thornton's three-dimensional mental model for implicit and explicit association of social cognition representations. Data analysis with Pearson's correlation test showed that only the correlation of hand error scores and social cognition components at the third (lower) level was significant. Also, the standard multiple regression analysis showed that in explaining hand error at the third (lower) level, based on obvious association; Disgust only (Beta = -1.52), and based on implicit association; Friendship (Beta = 0.63), disgust (Beta = -0.55), and satisfaction (Beta = 0.26) were able to predict artificial hand error, respectively. The obtained results indicate that the identification of people with those who get a lower social status in the subjective evaluations of the person can occur less often.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to develop and validate the educational package of cognitive-emotional empowerment and its effectiveness on working memory and emotional recognition of sixth grade female students. The research method is considered to be fundamental and applied in terms of its purpose, and the research is considered to be hybrid-exploratory. The statistical population of the research in the qualitative part included Persian and English specialized books and articles in the field of cognitive-emotional empowerment in the last 20 years, which were selected by the purposeful sampling method of the sample group. Then the components of cognitive-emotional empowerment were extracted and coded with the qualitative method of thematic analysis. Finally, the package of cognitive-emotional empowerment was compiled during twelve sessions and its formal and content validity was confirmed by experts. The research method in the quantitative part was a semi-experimental type with a pre-test-post-test design with a control group. The statistical population of this research includes all the female students of the sixth grade of elementary school in 1400-1401 who were studying in schools in Tehran. The sample size includes 30 people from the statistical population selected by available sampling method and they were placed in two control and experimental groups. For the experimental group, the developed program of cognitive-emotional empowerment was implemented, while the control group did not receive training. The research tools included numerical span test (Wechsler, 2003) and facial emotion recognition test (Ekman and Friesen, 2003). The results showed that the cognitive-emotional empowerment intervention had a significant effect on improving working memory and emotional recognition in the post-test and follow-up stages.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to investigate the effectiveness of cognitive empowerment of mental states on the mind reading ability of substance dependent people. The current study was a quasi-experimental type with a pretest-posttest design with a control group. 30 drug addicts with the same conditions in terms of age, education, occupation, etc. were selected and randomly assigned to two experimental and control groups (15 people in each group). The participants responded to the eye reading test (Baron-Cohen test) in the pretest and posttest. The experimental group was subjected to the intervention of the cognitive empowerment program (Terme program) and the control group did not receive any intervention. The results of covariance analysis showed that cognitive empowerment (Terme program) is effective on the ability to read minds (theory of mind) in drug dependent people. In fact, the Terme program has improved the ability to read minds through the eyes in drug dependent people. Based on the results of the present research, it is possible to use the cognitive empowerment program (Terme program) in the ability to read minds through the eyes for drug dependent people.
