According to the last edition of APA (DSM-IV-TR), the cancer has been known as a traumatic stress that can affect on Psychological and cognitive health in spouses as a caregiver and might show the signs of PTSD. Attention to this aspect is very important for treatment in cancer patients. This study examined the effect of cancer (during treatment and after treatment) on the emotional performance (anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder) and cognitive performance (autobiographical memory) on their spouses. 120 individuals in 3 groups (spouses of cancer patients (during treatment), spouses of cancer patients (after treatment) and the healthy group), that have been matched in sex age and intelligence attend to the research. The instruments of the research include the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale-Revised (WAIS-R), the Persian versions of the Impact of Event Scale-Revised (IES-R), the Beck Depression Inventory-II (BDI-II), the Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI), the Autobiographical Memory Test (AMT) and the Autobiographical Memory Inventory (AMI). Results indicated that no significant difference in depression was found between all three groups but the target group (during treatment) showed more psychological distress than the control group. Both of target groups indicated no significant difference in PTSD at all and control group showed higher levels of episodic specificity, episodic memory and autobiographical memory scores than the other groups. The findings are discussed in terms of the proposed theory about interaction of emotion and cognition, especially PTSD

Abstract

Covid-19 has had a significant impact on spouses' relationships. The high mortality rate from this disease is also a serious challenge. The aim of this study was to identify and investigate the differences between the life experiences of healthy spouses and mourning spouses during the corona virus epidemic. The research method was qualitative interpretive phenomenology. The statistical population was all healthy spouses of Tehran and Khorasan Razavi provinces, who have not been infected with the disease since the beginning of the outbreak and all spouses of these two provinces who lost their spouses due to corona virus. The sample included 9 healthy and 8 mourning spouses. The available sampling method was used for healthy spouses and targeted and snowball methods were used for mourning spouses. Interviews were conducted in a semi-structured manner, then implemented verbatim and analyzed by Colaizzi method. 4 main themes were identified in the experiences of both groups: worries, personal reactions, changes in social relationships and changes in attitudes. The main differences were in the sub-themes (e.g., illness concerns for healthy spouses and worries about survival for mourning spouses) and in main themes, they were similar due to the commonality of the questions. The results, by identifying the experiences of these two groups of spouses, showed that caring for self and for family against corona virus or death due to it, can cause significant problems and it is necessary to provide support systems for families according to their circumstances.

The present study was conducted with the aim of determining the effectiveness of emotion-oriented couple therapy on the marital distress of women affected by infidelity. The research method is practical in terms of purpose and quasi-experimental in terms of data collection method with a pre-test-post-test design with a control group with baseline measurement after intervention and three-month follow-up. The statistical population of this study included the statistical population of the present study, including all women affected by the betrayal of Tehran in 1402, who had referred to counseling centers in the 1st district of Tehran. According to the research design, a sample of 30 people was selected by purposive sampling and randomly replaced in the experimental group (15 people) and the control group (15 people). Marital burnout questionnaire was used in three stages to collect data. The experimental group received 8 sessions of 90 minutes of emotion-oriented couple therapy program, and the control group, which was on the waiting list, did not receive any training. The data were analyzed using analysis of variance with repeated measurements and Bonferroni's post hoc test. The results showed that after controlling the effects of the pre-test, there was a significant difference between the post-test average of the two groups in marital despondency, which can indicate the effectiveness of the mentioned intervention on the mentioned variable and Also, the stability of the effectiveness is in the follow-up phase. The results of this research showed that emotion-oriented couple therapy can be used as a psychological intervention in reducing the marital despondency of women affected by infidelity.
